remove 110 speed limiter
how can this be achieved?
i heard of temporarily disconection the vats gear sensor thing, but it had a side effect of turning off the speedometer.
is there a way to keep the computer from cutting fuel at 110?

my 2.8 can go faster than 110,
the guy before had teeny tiny lowrider tires on it, and i guess he had the computer reset for them. well, i bought tires that were a little bigger than stock size, and now the speedo is about 10mph off. i can go up to where my speedo says 109 and be going about 120 (or more??)
so just change your tires

i dont think its ur limiter...
im guessing here either ur ignition system cant hold up / ur injectors cant pump enough fuel.....
what coil,wires,plugs do u have ?
also whats the injectors u have..(mostly its just cause of the injectors- old )

Governor at 110 MPH??? I have an 85 2.8 and I have gone at least 120...I flew past my buddy who was already doing 120 so I was probably going faster...and I never felt anything kick off...This brings me to another question...Where is the governor on our cars???Is it inside the transmission or something like that...cause I know for a fact that my car goes well above 110 without that kicking on...however...its not really healthy as the car was shaking and I was scared of something in the front end breaking off....haven't had the car over 75 since...

the govenor is not an actual, physical thing..........its data programed inside your PROM that tells your engine to shut off when it hits 120 (?) MPH
obviously, its a safety feature

and yes the signal that turns on the limiter is from the speedo. Kill that signal go faster. So you "COULD" wire a "KILL" switch when you go highway top end.

i was wondering if there is a better way than just cutting the power to the vss,
i have a 92 camaro 3.1
a new accel supercoil, little older accel 8mm wires, new bosh platinum II"s
its pretty stable at 110. dosent shake to much
my ignition systems are pretty new... the fuel will cut at exacty around 112. every time.
i have new pirelli 225 p4000's the speed rating is above 120.

Joe, there is a governor inside the automatic transmissions, but it's name is misleading; that governor actually controls the tranny's shift points, not the vehicle's speed.

not till the late 80s early 90s did they install the 110 kill switch. only reason they did that was, Gm and other mans. dont put the best of tires on a car. so they can only let the car go as fast as the speed rating of the tires.
not many places are gonna put a z rated tire on any car, they are 160+ rated. next step down is around 110.

This is a hairbrained idea but here it goes.
For anybody that wants to defeat the limiter + gain a higher mph speedo, here's what you do.
Lets say you have 2.77 ratio gears in the rearend. Your speedo gears (VSS) are matched to this. Purchase new drive & driven gears(Behind the VSS) for a 3.70 rearend. SLP sells these gear sets for $26.90.
Now when your speedo is reading lets say 100mph, you are probably actually doing in the neighborhood of 120- 130 at a guess.
This is where it gets tricky. Next have a buddy drive next to you in a car with an accurate speedo and simply record every lets say 20mph increments. If he is doing 20mph and yours reads 16mph, make a note. Next, if hes doing 40mph and you are doing 31mph, make another note, etc...
Now with these speeds recorded, repaint the # on your speedo to match.
Again, its hairbrained but it works!
