well tonight, im taking my car to get it inspected, im driving along, not to happy thinking of selling the car, and all of a sudden, i put it to hte floor, it downshifts, and i take it to 120..and it is still pulling! and then, i turn the corner,..get it straight after power sliding it, nad it lays rubber in second? and all i have is dynomax cat back, gutted cat, and some other things in my Sig. i was like holy ****..so when i got outta the car, i gave it a kiss, locked the doors, and decided im gonna keep my lil thirdgen forever...i love my car! any of u guys proud of the way ur 2.8 performs? i think mine has a mind of its own
There are days I just can't feel so bad for ya KJ.
I keep thinking of those Maui Sunsets in my past.
Your ride will be solved. ANd you'll be crusiing the coast, waves lapping on the street under ya, Exotic Hawaiian Island Babe... KIANA Tom comes to mind, real quick!
After I got my posessed igniton problem solved, AC working... Man I love this ride of mine.
I'm swapping in a new interior right now, too.
Body work can wait.
I have to get more stuff for my 3.4 Blazer swap.
Swear it never ends.
BUT it is some of the final detail items.
I just have to figure out where to mount the external mounted electric Carter fuel pump in the frame rails then do it.

Yeah I did.
I'm gonna use it to find a good set of plug wires in all the plug wires I have for the 3.4 swap.
Kinda running my budget up too high, but, gettting to the end.
Hard part is not selling any left over parts, this swap project, except the other auto tranny I have, to someone local.
It is a great score! THANKS WAYNE!!

After alot of wrenching and time I can say that I am extremely proud of my 85. I currently have it up for sale and the ads say "runs as well as it looks and it looks immaculate". I recently took it on a two hour trip (each way) and only burned up 1/2 a tank of gas. Along with the AC retrofit this things a dream.
My 83 also draws some pride. This one's the daily driver and definitely not as outstanding a performer as the 85 (due to the carb). But the pride comes in when I need to get somewhere. It has proven itself to be reliable and the reliability reflects on the three years I have spent pulling/repulling/fixing everything to get my first engine swap done right. It's no show piece and it won't win any races, but I can be confident I won't be stranded at the side of the road.
My 86 draws pride in that it was my first fuel injected engine swap. There are a few minor bugs to work out before this one gets tagged but all indications are it will be a success

not much, dynomax catback, accel supercoil, some intake modifications (soon to be cold air intake), good injectors, b&m shift kit. the reason my car launches like this is like what i have said in other posts. it's the way you launch and stage...power staging is great. brake to the floor, rpm's up to 2200, lights come down, let off brake and gas to floor, no spinnage of the tires cause of good vht compound, great lights (.506)
mw66nova is stating it textbook correct and it shows.
Great Drag racing tires is what gets ya off the line, correctly.
These V-6 really don't have much need for a posi.
Do you remove/unhook the front sway bar, also?
You're running against a .500 light?

hey guys
My roomates has a 86 Camaro 2.8 auto. the motor was refreshed about 20k back. it's a 2.8 bored 60 over with a small wolverine cam(dunno about the size) with k/n and gutted cat with flowmaster exhaust (sounds ****ty on a v-6 ) also the trans was redone too and it got a 2600 stall. It runs good but it's nothing to brag about. also he has a hypertech chip for it. and comparing it to the stock chip. it seems to me that the stock chip has more punch out of the hole. any body have any ideas why that is.
IT needs a v8 really bad/or a TTA 3.8 turbo 6 banger

Something has GOT to be wrong with mine then. Mine won't spin 'em when floored, occasionally I can powerbrake, but not often. What's up with that?

I got mine to spin about 2 years ago and have been unable to since. Even with the rebuilt dist and 14 deg of timing. I don't get it.
Its getting dynoed this weekend. We will be able to see alot then. If the numbers are way off, then we will know its inside the engine. There is not a whole lot more I can do to the externals.
