2.8 to 3.4

I've been reading A LOT on here, and from mod lists and such, the 2.8 no matter what you do to it isnt gonna see past 15 second quarter miles. Well heck a v6 mustang runs that stock. I was starting to consider going from the 2.8 to the 3.4 considering we are going to be taking it down to the block anyway. What do you all think? I read the whole "how-to" on going from the 2.8 to the 3.4. But i wanted all your opinions first. Also, where can i pick up a 3.4 block. Cheap? This "project car" is on a tight budget lol.
