b&m shifter
It's aggrivation. Think of labor to remove all interior stuff to access area to work on, drill holes, then reinstall the stuff.
Don't forget crawling under car, too!!
Have to hook up cable, right?

Same great features as the Megashifter, but designed to fit factory console applications!
Applications

I put it in, back in '97- it's not hard at all. If you have a Camaro, you're set, you don't have to cut your console top, the shift plate is a direct bolt-in. Us Firebird guys with the 85-up console tops need to cut. (Thats why the instructions say "not for 88-91 formula", they should say "not for 85-92 Firebird". The shifter fits the car and transmission, but doesn't fit the console's top plate "directly"- it just prevents someone like me calling up B&M and saying "I want my money back, and $100 for a new console top!")
Yep, you do have to drill two holes to mount the shifter to the floorboard, not bad at all. I did my shifter with my center console removed - it made life much easier. You re-use the stock shifter's rear mounting holes, so drilling the fronts is easy.
A lot of people can't seem to adjust the cable right... then they claim the shifter is crap.
Adjusting the cable isn't technically hard, but it involves getting into the car and getting under the car and getting back into the car- over and over again, so most people don't bother. Also they have problems wiring up the relay for the park/neutral idle drop, again, I don't know why, they're probably stupid or color blind (or both), but it's an easy wiring job.
It took me 5 or 6 hours, including the removal of the console, and cutting the console lid (not required on a Camaro).

Really? Didn't your top shift plate unscrew with torx screws? Oh wait, there was a template in the box, wasn't there... can't remember. But I'm pretty sure the screws for the shift plate go where your existing hex screws are, right?
