Throttle bodies

Would it be possible to install a throttle body from a V-8 onto a 2.8 V-6?

if it can be done to this 3.4 intake then, yes to the 2.8/3.1.

and welcome to the board

I finally contacted Franz for FDP Performance ( Their website went down months ago pending new ownership or something along that lines) Anyway, he advised me that his manufacturer of these TB's below is in Finland. They had two left and is currently having one shipped to me as we speak. Franz should have it within the next week and will fit the proper linkage then call me when its done. Anyone that wants one should get ahold of him imediately To see if they will make more, otherwise they may be gone for ever.

I procratinated on buying this TB for months because I couldn't find Headers for this car, A friend and I finally got together and built two sets of tuned headers with egr's--One is going to C.A.R.B., then the other on my car if we can get approval. Don't get your hopes up anyone- he was not happy about building the first two and I doubt if he will ever make anymore- Its just not profitable.

I know a new throttle body will increase power decently..but how much are we talking about here? Comparable with that of exhaust? Little less? I just want to know if it's worth the $225 plus shipping and all...

In my case it definately will. I'm in the works of obtaining everything I need to open up the motors breathing including headwork. I'm going to hang tight for a few months to see what Supersix comes up with in the way of over-the-counter ported heads with possible 1.8" int./ but stock 1.42(3.4)ext. valves. They have been able to open up the intake ports to 1.77" so the 1.8" valves should be benficial. I plan to weld and port my plenium as well and again I do have custom tuned headers. I finally am aquiring the proper parts to hotrod this little motor after all these years of no luck in getting parts. I promise to smoke the 305 V8's once I finally get everything matched and make it tick (smog legal too.) As it stands now, the V8's can't touch me through the corners.

I here you, but this will always remain a heavy street car. the -42 lbs wont matter- and I don't like aluminum blocks for everyday use because of tolerance expansion of aluminum causing faster wear.

AF, what about in my case? Budget hot rodder..lol..currently stock with homemade CAI, exhaust in the garage waiting to be put on, along with plugs, cap, and rotor. So yeah, very very lightly modded. Motor still runs like mint though!

There are other things you can do instead for the amount of money a larger TB would cost to get more bang for the buck.

I would recomend to purchase 1.52 roller rockers long before you every get to purchasing a larger TB. This stand along mod will give you more power and a smoother faster revving motor.

Just adding a larger TB without headers and(especially in our "restictive design of motor" case) good portwork to increase flow in the heads and plenium & intake manifold. When you state exhaust mod, I'm assuming you are talking just cat-back and not headers also?

Where would you begin looking if you wanted a sheet metal intake made that flowed 750-1000CFM...

WTF??? James wrecked his car? Norris Racing Technologies? I wonder if that's the James I knew/met. Hope he's alright.. looks like I gotta do some searches at camaroz28.com ... wow.

Welcome to the board, Thunder88... are you thinking of doing this as your first mod? I wouldn't recommend it on a stock motor, and you'd have to have one hell of a built 6 to use any of that extra airflow...

Any weight you drop off the engine is greatly benefitial. Shaving 20 pounds of engine components will make much more of difference than shaving 20 pounds off the body. I thought about the V8 throttle body too. I would take some good welding skills and custom seals to make it work.
