Few ? On My New Engine

1. Ok, as advised buy ked, since I have to pull the timing chain cover to swap pans, I am gonna replace the Timing chain. What is the part # for that cloys double roller?? And what have you guys payed for it?? I know its not on summits site. Also, what is the # for their timing chain guide, or just get a elcheapo from autozone??

2. Second, since this is full engine swap including Intake, TBI runs at 9-13 Psi fuel, SEFI needs 41-47. I need a fuel pump. Now s10's did come with CPI 4.3l engines that use an amazing 54-62 PSI I know that will be dircet swap pump, but will that blow the fuel pressure regulator? I want a adjustable one, but dont have the $$ to get that just yet, so I need a pump that has space for upgrading to more, but wont blow the stock regualator for a few months . Any thoughts on that??

3. I looked at the diff in the 93-96 camaro motor mounts VS the s10 mounts, that are diff. Suggest I use s10 brackets and mounts or camaro brackets and mounts?? I am kinda trying to do this one budget also

4. Anyone have any info/tips on specail making fuel lines and radiator hoses?? I have never done that, but fixing to have to learn.

I am making a page on my website for the swap, and will let yall know how its going.

BTW, anyone have a oil pan they want to donate?? I belive 88-92 2.8/3.1 will work.

1. don't kow p/n, but it's about $90. check out Jegs

2. I do have a blazer w/the cpi. and there isn't a way around the afpr, sorry

3. see if possible to use s10 mounts for chassis/bottom side, and the 3.4 mounts or 2.8 (they're shorter) brackets for engine side.

4. radiator hoses shouldn't that ddiff, if any. fuel lines are more fun. get a quality tube bender.

oil pan......I still have the old 2.8 parts, but I think the pan should be attacked by 20 gallons of POR-15. it has some rust

Thanks project.

1. Looked it up at jegs, only said up to 91? Will it still work up to 96?? Use cheap guide?

2.

3. Dont understand what your saying. I dont think the camaros steal brackets will interchange with the s10 rubber mounts.

4. The neck comes off and a slight more angle then the s10 one does. For now I am hoping it will bend enough, but this is a show truck, I don't want stuff looking like its "rigged" I want it to look like some thought went into it.

5. Can chroming a oil pan cover up rust??

I needed a good laugh!
Sorry!

What pan ya need?
S-10 2.8 oil pan?
I can get ya one.
I'll have it washed pay for shipping & the guys' "shop".
You send it out to a chromer for a quote.

Motor mounts.
You need any 3.4 RWD FRAME motor mounts & the proper end vehicle (S-10) motor mounts.
Again my 1985 S-10 motor mounts fit the 1995 3.4 block perfectly. Everything lined right up. I seeked out newer motor mount bolts, too. I used the newer 1995 3.4 motor mounts on the S-10 frame & again perfect fit.

I used a Dynaguide timing chain I got for $30. It works perfect. All ya need.
You also need the balancer snout sleeve, too & that's $4 more.
If your old 2.8/3.1 timing chain cover is bad, let me know, I have access to a couple I believe. I have one already clean, but it's aged, to much for my engine swap.
Use the spare change to buy the engine gasket kit you'll need. Easily can cost $60.
Make sure you buy a NEW REAR Main Seal, too!
Again, MAKE SURE you buy the gasket set for the end result engine.
Was it a 1992 S-10 engine?
Then buy that kit.
IF ya need a few gaskets, for top end, buy those separetly.
Keep asking!

I would love to have it chromed, you know that karl. If you can get me a pan for less then 25 I would love it, plus if you have connections on chroming it (of course more $), I would love ya for life. I have asked locally, and everyone tells me this place that is 4 hours away

The motor mounts looked like they wouldnt work. I guess I will take a look when it gets here. How hard is rear main to replace?? I dont see why I need a full engine kit, rem, I'm not striping this thing all the way down, I'm droping intake and all in. IMO only need timing, oil pan, oil housing. Later valve covers and intake. OR is it cheaper to get the whole freakin kit??

Blancer snout sleeve, guess I need to read my book more

You got that right Red Rider.
yep...cheaper.

Balancer snout sleeve slips over balancer snout making close to a chance of zero leak at that seal.
I have to redo my 85 Firebird engine, as it leaks there now. Plus add new tensioner for better engine life.
My Blazer motor is as leak free as I hope a new mill is from dealer!

It's the mounts on the incoming motor long block you swap for the 2.8 60* Blazer motor mounts.

I can deal with the pan this coming weekend.
FIND OUT if you need a timing cover, too.
I will not chrome the pan, I will just wash it for ya & ship. I hope I need not remove it off engine, cause they is major gross!
I only hope the pan I send ya is the right one, early 80's 2.8 style.
Looks identical to my 85 Blazer pan & the one from my 85 Firebird, too.
You will waste a small fortune for a choming of the oil pan.
Try chrome paint!

Na, don't worry about if you not sure its the right one, and have to pull it off the engine yourself. I thought you might have a chorme connection out their, as I don't here.

Do yall think that that extra fuel pressure would blow the regulator? I hate to have to buy my regulator up front

It's a 93?? Do you know if the pump uses a metal fuel sending unit or the newer plastic module ones?

If it uses the old metal style unit, you should be able to use a Camaro fuel pump.....I could be wrong though (and it wouldn't be the first time )

Pan is off engine
I would have to wash it
I'll check this Sunday....
Chrome...
Sure I am aware of several out in CA.
They are not local and to chrome a pan requires media blasting.
My sprained shoulder can't take it right now.
But it'll be expensive.
Gotta send pan in same time with a BATCH of stuff to chrome, then it's worth it.

I could send ya the connection and I hve suggested Hemmings.
As I said Chroming in LA area ia rather expensive due to Smog laws and that's for the good.
New chrome is very good, too.
Your area does have good chromers.
Go check out Hemmings.
Look in sections for the classic cars (Ford GM etc).
They advertise there.
ALSO go to car shows ask owners who did their chrome work.
You can see what I mean about chroming & show chroming that way, too.
BUT the more choice$ ya get the more expen$ive project become$!
I'll check this weekend
Again pan I can offer fit the early 80's S-10 chassis.
I doubt if it changed tho.
Double check your end if ya can....
