3.1L timing help
Stock is 10* advanced but most people set it to 12*.
To set timing you need to disconnect the EST wire. It's brown with a black stripe and the connector is near the passenger strut tower. This will put the engine in base timing. Then loosen the distributor and spin the cap until you get the right timing.Then tighten the distributor, reconnect the EST, and then cycle the key off for a few seconds. You will set a code while doing this however.

Hey Cali, where is the distributor holddown, and is it a nut, or a screw or what? I've tried to look around there but I can't get my fat head back to see past the cap and cap holddown screws.

Bright light pointed at base of distributor.
do you see the 15MM bolt head yet?
if not get 2 big cans of brake cleaner. Spray, Research.
