Has anyone EVER found these? Summit doesn't carry them, GM doesn't sell them for V6's. And the local race shop can't find them.
GM says the 2.8 valve cover MIGHT fit a 3.1, since they are the same block, but the bolt patterns might not match up. Summit says no they won't fit.
Any ideas? Or links/stores of where I can get these?
Thanks!

Well in terms of aftermarket valve covers, the choices are nill to none. I'll give you a brief rundown of what can be done for the 3.1.
1. You could get a set of chromed ones from Edelbrock. However, they usually only fit the earlier carbed cars and don't fit under the plenum. They also do not have the necessary oil baffles built into them.
2. You could have your originals chromed or anodized. There was a thread in the V6 forum a while back that someone was doing this. Advantages are you can have any color you want.
3. Finally, some people (myself included) have opted to hijack the cast aluminum covers off of a V6 Fiero. Those are the only aluminum ones I know of. Dale put them on his 3.1 with no problems.

So did the aluminum covers on the Fieros come stock? or can I just call summit and order aftermarket Fiero covers from them? I know jack about Fieros other than they had a tendancy to be "flame blowers". So do I just ask for valve covers for a V6 Fiero? Any particular year or Engine size?
I have had two leaks so far on my valve covers so thats why I want aluminum and not just powder coat the current covers.
Thanks again!

Yeah the fieros came stock with the nice valve covers. The only places to get these would be Ebay, the junkyard, etc. as buying them second hand is pretty much the only option.Originally posted by aimeesc

Word to the wise -- If you choose to buy second hand, make sure the seller is including all of the bolts. Foeros have special bolts holding their valve covers down and could be difficult to replace.

They fit.
I also have eldabrock (sp) on my old 2.8l s10 engine and they "appear" they will clear the intake on my new 3.4l, so they "should" clear the 3.1 intake
Fiero valve covers, 85-88 2.8l engine. VERY limited years, good luck finding. Then you will need the "specail" rubber gaskets for them. Then you will need to find some m6-100 bolts about 20mm in length, and some largeer washers to go under them to fill the hole properly. So you dont have a jerry rig job like mine.

Mdv6, I just looked up, and you can still order them for a massive 46 bux A SIDE!! and w/o bolts or gaskets.
My local autozone carrys bolts in the help section, along with a package of washers that can be made to work.

Thanks alot guys, think I might have actually come across some. Decided 'what the hell' and called Pontiac, they are no longer in production. *shrug* worth a try.

hey, keep looking on eBay. That's where I found mine. It took me 2 months to find them. However, mine weren't in the best f hape, I had to degrease and repaint them. They look good now. I'm gonna put them on in the spring. Here's a picture of before and after:

Ineed a set of those bad. Then I plan to have them professionally polished and have my plenium/intake manifold and headers Jethot ceramic coated.
I found a guy online who sells Fiero stuff. He said he had some in stock. I found one on Ebay and won the auction, so if anyone wants to get ahold of him, I am sure he wouldn't mind. His site is a little cheesy, but he was quick to respond to me.

He told me a estimated shipping right off the bat.

2.8l V6 Fiero Valve Covers...$25ea.(set $50) Shipping....................$ 7...(Set.$11)
Total.......................$32...(set.$61)
I want to note I am not recommending him, just suggesting you might try him, as I have never purchased from him.

I payed $60 for my valve covers too. I used the "buy it now" option and bought them for $50. Then of course I payed an arm and a leg for shipping and handling. At least i got a set of bolts and gaskets. The set I saw on eBay before mine ended at $80.
aimeesc - did you get a set of bolts to go with your valve covers?

No, I didn't get the bolts with the valve covers I ordered. But my best friend says he shouldn't have any problems getting them.
Yeah!! The Fiero comes through again!!
It's pretty cool... when Pontiac built the Fiero, they totally went ALL-OUT on the 2.8 V6/60.
- Aluminum Valve covers
- larger valves
- Larger throttle body made specifically by Holley (52mm)
- stainless steel tubular exhaust manifolds
- COMPLETE stainless steel exhaust piping (2.25")
just a few of the things they did.

Larger throttle body, yes. Originally posted by 82-T/A [Work]

Larger valves, dunno, but imagine not. As the head space is restricting. The combustion chambers are the same size.
FACTORY did not see anthing Stainless, besides the exhaust tips.
They DID NOT get tubular STAINLESS headers, or STAINLESS exhaust system.
Larger Throttle body, yes, but they make them for the RWD 60* too.
Camar_Hunter_c, not sure where you got your information, but I've owned 7 Fieros in total so far. I've also been working on Fieros for the past 6 years now as well.
ALL Fieros came STOCK with stainless steel tubular exhaust MANIFOLDS.. note, I did not say headers, they are tubular, and they are manifolds, but they are not headers (not eaqual length either). The Y-pipe is ALSO stainless steel, and the entire exhaust system (including the original catalytic converters) were / are also stainless steel. It IS a low grade stainless steel, but they still are "stainless steel".
As a matter of fact, when I originally bought my Fiero, everything on it was stainless. I was an idiot, and figured I would replace it with a "performance" exhaust system. I replaced it with an aftermarket "Ocelot" system from the Fiero store and removed all my piping.
By the way, the factory exhaust pipes were also MANDREL bent too.
Anyway, the exhaust tips are "POLISHED" high-grade stainless steel. (Polished being the key word here). The rest of the exhaust was simply just low-grade stainless steel.
That's a fact, you can ask anyone in the industry..

The frame was also galvenized, so that it wouldn't rust.

I GOT A SET OF FIERO VALVE COVERS FROM A KID PARTING OUT A FIERO ENGINE. WILL THE TB WORK ON OUR CARS? I M THINKING YES BUT WANNA MAKE SURE BEFORE BUYING IT OFF OF HIM. I BLASTED THE SET I GOT THEN JUST REPAINTED THEM. AND POLISHED THE FINS.

AFreaknGoodTme, really? Have you measured it? Everyone I've been told has told me that it was 47mm.
For my V6, the only TB they offer aftermarket is another Holley that's 55mm. However, there is a guy out in Ohio that you can ship your factory throttle body and plenum and he'll bore them both out to 57mm.... (includes the intake plenum). He only charges $120 bucks and ships the parts back to you for free.
Did you bore out your intake plenum? I don't even think the hole to the plenum is 62mms?

Hey speaking of Fiero valve covers...
I recently repainted mine... however I painted over the little raised parts that are supposed to be metal. What is the best way to remove the paint in that area and bring it back to it's metal luster?
Do you guys use sand-paper? I'd like to do it soon because the paint that I use usually stays relatively soft / plyable for a week or so, then after that it becomes as hard as a rock.
Thanks,

I took my dads surface conditioning disc. Its made out of fibers glued together and went over them ridges. Then went back with 600, then 1000, then wipped them down and clear coated the whole thing, again.

The Plenium intake hole is not large enough and I knew that when I bought it. They give you instructions on boring the plenium to match- I plan on doing extensive welding to strengthen and allow for better porting of the entire intake, then plan to have the whole thing ceramic coated. Here's a recent pic of my current TB on the car and My 62mm sitting up on the STB.Originally posted by 82-T/A [Work]

At the very least, you could port match it so that it has a conical shape as it goes from the (very large) throttle body, into the inside of the intake plenum.

hey, maybe a real fine wet sandpaper will take the paint off? I dunno. I taped off all the metal when i painted mine. Taping the metal off wasn't hard just a little time consuming. I just used some masking tape and a box cutter hehe. I'm the queen at taping things off and painting hehe. I took the tape off and i realized that I forgot to clear coat them oops
I might go over them again, depends if i'm in the mood for taping hehe.

After blasting them.I painted the whole thing . Then I ran them acros our emery machine here at work to polish out the fins. Then I clear coated them.
