? about the stock exhaust manifolds
I got this horrid exhaust leak comming from my driver side manifold. One the studs that attach my y-pipe to the manifold have stripped out
Can the stud be taken out and a new one put in?

Yes it can. I would recommend removing the manifold and using new bolts when reinstalling after new studs are put in.

I finally got the new studs put on, but I need to replace my flange gasket and the rubber doughnut thing in the y-pipe to manifold flange. So tommorow it off to carquest to get my bolts and new gaskets.
the leak is worse since most of the gasket fell apart. Looks like another weekend project.

I did some searching in previous posts and found what size bolts I need M8 1.25 x 40 mm short bolt,M8 1.25 x 70 mm long bolt. But I couldnt find any gasket #'s. I'm going to car quest tommorow to get everything I need to fix my leak, and it would be helpful to know what kind of gasket to get. Thanks

Gaskets?? Shouldn't need any gaskets- no gasket between the head and exhaust manifold, no gasket between the manifold outlet and y-pipe inlet. You had a piece of rubber in the y-pipe inlet?? The cast iron "donut" makes that connection gasketless.

Quick suggestion the bolts...i bought smaller diameter bolts and then used that a couple washers and a nut...think about this...you never have to worry about the bolt getting stuck in because if you break it it will slide out...not like the threaded ones that are in there...i think its easier that way...also...get stainless steel...you'll never have the problem of rusting either...

TomP the dounut is made of rubber and wiremesh of some sort. When I had my exhaust done they put it inbetween the manifold and y pipe where they connect. So in other words I dont need the dounut in there?

 this wasnt a weekend project after all. I got my new flange gasket and all new bolts and now bot leaks are gone
The first was from the stud that broke from the y pipe. After I fixed that my flange gasket was destroyed when I took it off so I had to drive the car to college today with the bad gasket on. Got home and replaced it and put the new bolts on and no more leaks
I can feel the power my V6 has again too. This morning it was awful to drive due to that leak, I had to have the pedal 3/4 of the way to the floor to go up the big hills. I cant wait for tommorow to really test everything out. Oh I did this for fun while I was making a design for a trophy plaque.
