injectors
injectors
Ok I’m looking in the submit cat log at all of there injectors
And I’m just wondering how much trouble they are to change and what does it involve???
I mean how much of the engine do they have to take apart????
(Remember guy's I’m no good at this car ****
)
I'm basically trying to figure out how much work I want to have done at one time.
Timing chain cam rockers pulleys ignition etc etc etc....
Tom I did chat with Rich Jensen from http://www.cruzinperformance.com as per you in a different post
Seen as how I can't seem to locate a junkyard anywhere around me he pretty much suggested that I buy a new set from submit: D
Thanks

They are somewhat of a pita, and do have to take the very upper portion of the engine apart.
1.First, open gas door, take cap off ( I forgot, creates vacume, loose lots of gas before you go
)
2.take bracket to ac compressor off
3.take them dumb hoses from engine to tb off
4.undo throttle cable and undo the braket that holds it
5.unclip iac, tps, undo them vacume hoses on tb
6.undo vacume lines at rear
7.unbolt the upper intake
8.tug with all power on upper intake
9.cuss upper intake
10.get rubber bfh from tool chest
11.wack upper intake few times while cussing
12.throw intake on dirt ground and laugh at it. you just won at its own game.
13.relive fuel line pressure at that nozzle you see
14.undo the three torx screws holding fuel line block to fuel rail
15.Soak up gas that went everywhere
16.grab fuel rail and tug
17.cuss fuel rail
18.go get long pry bar from tool chest
19.pry rail out
20.set on work bench upside down
21.take small needle nose, and screw driver, and roate them little clips that hold injectors in rail.
22.grab injector, and rail and pull apart tell red in face, injector gives away and flys accros garage hitting dads antique jars on other wall.
23.retrive injector before he dad comes out
24.pop little clips off old injectors
25.pop little clips on new injectors
26.take new injectors, spray liquid silicone on seals (some use oil), and slide that baby in like a french prostitue.
27.spin clips back.
28.slide rail and injectors back in intake
reassemble top engine somewhat like you took it apart.
BTW, I'm really board.

You dont need to do injectors when you do timing chain.
I recommend staying with 15lb injectors. That is unless you are doing some HEAVY modifications to it. Accel brand seems to be the prefured brand.
Btw, use new intake gaskets too. Tighten to what is it tomp?? 10ftlbs??
Dads jars were fine, I was just like
when it went flying, and TINK, clunk. Just glad no shattering sounds.

Bored .060, full port and polish, oversized throttle body, large cam, 1.6 rockers, headers. That sorta thing. Some in here will say you can go to 17 or even 19lb.
My experience, 17lb was to much for my 3.1l. I had them in just to see if my 15lbs were bad. It idled smoother, but lost power and mpg. I belive the smoohter idle was due to the 15lbs having 145k+ miles, and the 17lb had 71k miles.

Yep, thats what I'm saying.
I was not bored at that time. The car had a major running/driving/dying issues I was trying to find.
Replacing injectors is nothing next to gutting out a cat.
