vaccum line confusion
I recently got my car back from the mechanic and he claimed he fixed the vaccum hose-the one from the throttle body to the container next to the air intake. Apparently it wasnt connected. Since then my car runs like crap! It shifts HARD at high rpms into second and my moms lumina stomped it at a light at half throttle, I had the to pedal to the floor. Since then i unhooked the line and it runs like it did before. Has this happened to anyone before? Is it absolutely neccessary that that vaccum line be hooked up? I'm confused-jmb

Why in the hell would disconnecting a vacuum hose from the charcoal canister make your car run BETTER....you should be leaking vacuum and running like ***... Have you tried disconnecting the vacuum line and PLUGGING IT instead of leaving it open? See what that does. This doesn't make sense at all though... For it to affect the transmission shift points and firmness even? That's something affected SOLELY by the hydraulic pressure inside the transmission, which is controlled by the TV cable on the throttle blade...the two are in no way connected...

I don't know if this may help, but there is a filter at the bottom of the charcoal canister and if it is completely clogged this may hinder vaccum. Just a thought.
