Exhaust noise
Exhaust noise
I have strange noise coming from the rear exhaust when I'm cruising along in 5th gear. It's hard to describe. Best way I can think of to describe the sound is like that of a bath tub draining. I just had a new muffler put on recently and it was making the sound with the old muffler. Anyone know what I'm talking about and/or have any insight on what is causing this?

Welcome to the boards. Are you sure it's coming from the muffler?
It would be a little more helpful if you could try to describe the noise a little better.... does it do this all the time in 5th gear, or part of the time? Does it make the sound at any particular RPM or speed?

It happens between 2000 and 2300 RPM..... in any gear... and only while driving. I rev'd it up to the range in nuetral... it didn't make the noise. Also... as I listen closer, it could probably even be described as a rapid faint popping sound.
