IF CORRECT
The adjust for the temp is a cable controlling the door opening in the heater box housing.
ANY reason why that could be disturbed?
Your thermostat?
I believe more a good wiring connection or poor ground.
IF really overheating, you'd have steam outta from under the hood.

Yah, hopefully your temps aren't actually going that high. So no boiling over? No overheating? No leaks? The no heat thing makes me think a bad heater core..or a bad hose running to the core. Check them for leaks. There's no water coming into the passenger-side area, and no smoke rising from the dash right??

So, engine temp says "very hot!"
But, no heat from the heater?

$10 says that you're extremely low on antifreeze.

Check the coolant overflow reservoir. If it's boiled over, there'll be antifreeze all over the outside of the tank. As TomP said, check your coolant. Compare the coolant level when the car is cold and when the temp gauge says your car is too hot. If the coolant level doesn't go up drastically when the gauge says it's too hot, you've got a problem with your gauge.

to lil is not my problem 2 much is last week when i added antifreez i was talking to someone and added to much. since then sometimes when i shut off my car antifreez will drip down if i turn it off then on again it stops. my friend told me i have to much antifreez and thats why its doing that. could that be the problem for the heat and temp gauge as well?
and no, no smoke no nothing all normal and no the car is not really over heating.

Shouldn't be the problem.... Any excess coolant will just go over and drain into the reservoir tank or drip outside the radiator to the ground.

Last respsonse correct
EXCEPT
IF
YA
Got a weak head gasket.
My Blazer had a weak head gasket.
It would drain radiator, not show up out the tail pipe.
It would show up as a gauge going weird, then calm down again, then register high.
I'd pull over, pop rad cap, fill with water (while engine running), get going again.
Eventually, I got chocolate milk.
