Differences Fiero 2.8L and 3rd Gen 2.8L

Differences Fiero 2.8L and 3rd Gen 2.8L
Hey fellas, I've got a 1985 Fiero GT I'd like to build into my daily driver so I can park the Bird for some renovations. I'm planning a mostly stock refresher of the 2.8L Fiero motor I have.
All of the specs seem to be in good order when I checked em, and I'm looking for just a bit more power... Basically I'm asking what mods seem to work best on the 2.8L and are the things you guys are doing comatible with the Fiero motor?
Also, the fiero V6 seems prone to spinning bearings and I am also looking for a HV oil pump for the v6 and I haven't seen any out there... anyone know of where to find one?

Not sure about the Fiero, but the '85(6?) FBody V6s got a SUPER improvement to the oiling system - ours are good up to about 7k rpm, stock. Grooved bearings, and bigger bearings, I believe.
Your Fiero 2.8 has a bigger TB than us, built by Holley. A lot of people like the Holley name, I say it's just a name - polish the intake, and throttle body, and gasket match everything. That'll help some.
Do you have a 5 speed? Massive improvement there. The auto is literally a slush box in those things!
Since you have a 2.8, you can stuff a 3.4 block under there, with 3.4 injectors, and no other changes. The block is the same external size - nifty, eh?

THE TB BLADE of a Fiero & F Body ARE VIRTUALLY IDENTICAL IN SIZE.
The TB used on a Fiero was farmed out to be made by Holley.

So the blade's are the same size? Then what is it that's so special about the Fiero TB? Is teh opening bigger, or what?
Now why doesnt this place have TB's that work with Fiero's?

also the stock Fiero Holley TB is 52mm- same cfm as ours, only made by Holley with a different linkage that will not work on RWD motors, works only on Transverse motors.

The pacesetters are for a 93-95 F Body.
Not smog legal for our 3rd gen.
The Fiero manifolds are great as they have no EGR on them.
The EGR is attached elsewhere on the exhaust system.
I've sent JC Whitney an email
Haven't ordered anything from them since 1972 or so.

And I've sen all sorts of stuff in the back end of fieros, from 4.9L caddies to blown big blocks. There is a big fiero show every year in Carslile PA in May.
The 2.8L Blocks in the f-body have a better oiling system? Does anyone else have more concrete info on this?
I WOULD THINK THAT
this may have gotten started regarding the four cylinder engine fires.
OR because the East West engine is not great oil set up compared to the North South engine oil set up F body.

Four banger oil fires came from bad connecting rods, it had nothing to do with the oil system, engine design, or pontiac. Thank the foundry and GM for forcing them down pontiacs throat.
As for differences, the starter is on the opposite side of the block in a fiero and it would require new holes to be drilled in the block. Rodney Dickman sells a jig to do this, but it is for putting a rwd block into a fiero not vice versa. I do not know if it would work for putting a fiero 2.8 in a camaro.
On a side note, a 2.8 Fiero is much faster than a 2.8 or a 3.1 fbody. I have owned both. The reason for this is the Fiero is lighter and it doesn't have as much driveline loss do to the lack of a driveshaft.

Add in a better flowing exhaust system, too!

I used a rental Fiero for 10 days & 3,000 miles

It was a connecting rod issue only, it was true the 4 bangers had oil issues, however the 85 got decent rods and the fires stopped.
Any Fiero you buy today has good connecting rods or it would have had a fire a long time ago.

SO does the camaro/firebird have a better oiling system than the fiero block? It would be nice to know since I see about 8,000 2.8L F-bodies in the local yards around here...
