High-flow cat brand

What brands have a bolt-on high-flow cat for the 2.8? Is it possible that they are listed under another engine, like the 3.1, or the 3.4? Thanks.

We use the v8 cat.

Specifically:

2.5" slip-fit inlet
2.5" ball-flange outlet

Look up the v8 f-body catco cat using those above specs from http://www.summitracing.com and you'll see the application guide also lists our 2.8/3.1's.

2 1/4 universal? Not on my car, nor should it go on anyone else's. Factory cat is 2.5 inch inlet. Why would you drop down a level, and pay someone to weld it in? Go for the 2.5"I described above, CTO-4115, it bolts right in. If you're getting a high-flow cat you might as well get the correct pipe size.

Your CatCo cat # is part #CTO-4115. That was found thru Summit's site, http://www.summitracing.com . I did a "Manufacturer Search", and on the top of the search screen, I told it department = "Exhaust", section = "catalytic convertors", manufacturer = "catco". A list popped up. I chose our setup, which is a 2.5" inlet, and 2.5" flanged ball outlet. A box popped up- and the cat looks just like my current one (made by PFP, not carried by Summit anymore). I clicked on applications, and there it was, standing out at me- 82-92 Camaro 2.8/3.1 ! If the pic & and description (flanged ball out) is right, this not only the cat for your car, but it's a direct bolt-in (no welding required)!
Oh; the cat on my car is the one Karl mentioned; made by PFP. Part # is buried somewhere at home- I put that on back in 1996. If I come across it this weekend, I'll put it up.

Unfortunately the parts store that I deal with (my brother works there) doesn't carry Catco. They have Dynomax, Magnaflow, and possibly Flowmaster. So should I get him to look up a high-flow for an '86 (same year as my car) 305 or 350? This will be what I want?
Thanks,
Jason

Dynomax is expensive, IIRC. Magnaflow is the CarSound cat, which is well known. I'd go with the Magnaflow, or whatever is cheapest between Dynomax and Magnaflow.

My car uses the 2.25" cats...but I have 2 of them.

But will the Dynomax or Magnaflow one that I want be listed as an '86 305, or 350?

Stock is 2.5" in& out????? The one I got @ AZ looks like a 2.25 in & 2.5 out, as the ballend fits perfectly to the dynomax I-pipe.

I am running a Dynomax converter. I ordered mine from Jegs. It is a 3 way converter and fits 83-89 Camaros. The part number is 028915735. It cost $89.99 before shipping.

If you go to http://www.discountconverter.com/con...earch_make.cfm and put in the make and year, you'll come up with the converter for the camaro. This page actually says (if you click on the part number) that it fits the 2.8. Thanks to CC_HotRod for the part # (15735 is the dynomax product number), and always to everyone for the input.

Re: High-flow cat brand

Necropost but I'll answer anyways...

Get a MagnaFlow 93441 and cut the inlet off. Call Summit and get a 2 1/4" to 3" OD adapter and put the adapter on in place of the inlet flare on the cat. Measure the outlet of the crossover pipe first. I think it's 2 1/4" OD but I couldn't swear to it.
