Removal Of Digital EGR
Alright, this car just blew its third digital EGR in the past 1.5 years. I refuse to pay 200 bones again for another one.
How do I go about removing this damn thing. Does it require the chip to be burned?
Can I block it off, and leave it all mounted their, looking pretty with no codes, and no chip?

no codes you say? mabe try getting some exhaust gasket material on teh tube connecting to the manifold, block it off there. Also could raid teh 3.4 motors.

I just want the damn thing off the car w/o codes. I'm tired of buying these POS's!!!
Yep, 3.4 went with the truck, even if I still had it, I wouldnt take it off that. It would be more hassel to remove on it.

Disconnect it. If you don't throw a code then, you probably won't if you remove the entire sucker. Yeah, I'd just use some gasket material and block it off completely. All you'll probably notice that's different is the car will feel rougher going from part throttle to zero throttle. I don't think it'll greatly affect the computer. It'll just act like a broken EGR valve, minus the check engine light. Of course, I'm not sure if these GM cars throw a code for no EGR, but my Ford doesnt.

Yeah, but try disconnecting it completely. The computer will probably just bypass it then and not throw a code to avoid pissing you off.

Transmission: 700r4....not stock either
Axle/Gears: 3.73
it will occasionally throw a code 32. i am running no egr on a stock chip. i have thought about trying, but have not, leaving the egr hooked up to the plug but not to the intake. i don't want all of the exhaust blowing thru my ported/polished intake.

AM91, does the car studder like listed above? Also, hows the car act once a code is thrown, still driveable?

i haven't noticed any studder that would be caused by no egr. i have noticed no difference when the light comes on, it seems to drive/run the exact same.

When I disabled my EGR, only difference I noticed is the car would jerk kinda hard when I let off the gas pedal and make a loud airy noise, like I had an exhaust leak. The EGR eliminated that jerk.

Nixon, yours was a 2.8 correct? And auto or manual? Digital or vacume controled egr?
Trying to see why am91 has no problems, while you did. Not saying either is lying.

Lol I might be leading you astray here dale... My car WAS a 3.1/auto, but I never messed with the EGR on it. The EGR thing was with the Mustang (5.0, auto). But it's a vacuum EGR with a computer connection.
