to express your interest in purchasing this product once made.
Any details you can think of ask him in the email.
I am finally hoping to leave very soon to have my car used as mule for making the street legal headers 99% of these Fbody owners truly need. Once mocked up & sent to CARB for approval, PaceSetter Exhaust will manufacture them we just thank them with our money!
Mr. Fred Gerle is a really great gent!

THANKS!
Keep your email brief & just plain ol' supportive.
Ask him about their company exhaust products, you'll be pleased of wide range of stuff available for our rides, even if your ride a carb'd version.
The upgraded/better flowing "Y" Pipe is the best addition ya can spend money.

after he makes it to them, they are going to prototype a set based on his car.
More then likely fine tune it a little bit after mochup.
Make jigs for this setup
Prob start selling a few while they send a set to C.A.R.B for cali emissions approval.

Only street legal high performance exhaust system (headers to "Y" pipe to CC) for F Body 2.8/3.1 60* V6 1985-1992 model years vehicles.
Carb equipted F Body vehicles not included in this mission. The market demand for that product is next to nil.

There are a couple of sets on eBay right now if you want to look there. You have to search under "V6" in the Exhaust section in car parts heading. They also have a seller selling flanges only if you know someone or some shop that can custom bend pipes for headers for the 2.8/3.1.

There was a set or two up for auction yesterday from an F-body, but I guess the auctions ended. The full-length ones may work, or not, depending on how your exhaust is set up. 2458396572

So they are not making headers for the carb 2.8, only for 85- and on fuel injected models?
But the headers will fit the carb engine won't they? I mean the difference is just the fuel induction.
Any idea as to when they will be available? End of this summer maybe?

yea, the headers that pacesetter is going to make will be for any 82-92 v6 (2.8-4.3) f-body. i don't think that we really have any idea yet when they will be available, someone please post if you have heard a time frame for these.
you can order headers from PF&E now but they are a bit expensive. check the 'sticky' at the top of the v6 board.

Let me help clear up some stuff.
There is no 4.3 in a Camaro! Perhaps 3.4 was meant.

The years covered 1982-1984 carb version ...
Mr. Gerle of Pace Setter Exhausts & I discussed this. I told him, honestly, there is no "word of desire" for this year version car for which to "install headers".
How many of us here wish to invest the real money & hop up the carb'd 2.8 version? NOT VERY MUCH WORD is truly expressed here on this board. Our compromise was a product marketing decision.
The real high exhaust performance word comes from the MPFI folks.
The necessary ingredient in the exhaust, "the better exhaust flowing "Y" pipe", is an easy purchase & can raise a carb's car 5-10 HP.
Fitment
Will this 85-92 F Body designed product fit the carb'd version?
NO because the carb'd engine exhaust version will need have AIR tubes running to the exhaust manifolds.
S-10 & F Body HiPo exhaust fitment.
I only used the suggestion of "visually" the S-10 "Ebay listed header" looks like headers for a F Body. I wasn't suggesting "easy fitment of S-10 headers for F Body engine bay" using the S-10 part. If it fits, seems ya "made it fit".
Cost is not my department. YET most STREET LEGAL HEADERS go for the $299 - $600 range. I am guessing about $300-ish. Don't forget ya also add new smooth "Y" pipe to CC piece, too! That pipe wil cost extra.
Timing, damn, found some more real estate & I have to await until Monday to see for purchasing or stick in a bid. I wanted to buy on the spot!
DAMN!
As stated above, I'm volunteering to go & foot the traveling & lodging bill outta my pocket to get this street legal header project done. Mr. Fred Gerle is a wonderful gent to OFFER TO BUILD US THIS PRODUCT (& Pace Setter foots the bill of EPA testing, which ain't cheap!!), IF I GET THERE & ALLOW THEM TO USE MY CAR FOR "ENGINEERING MULE PURPOSES".
Pace Setter is written up in latest issue of Chevy High Performance magazine. The picture of one of their final products is a work of art.
Start saving your pennies!
Send Mr. Fred Geerle a short kind email thanking him for thinking of producing this STREET LEGAL (ALL 50 states!) High Performace Exhaust product for our 85-92 F body 60* V6 cars.

Hope this answers many questions/comments.
I finally got my Firebird ready to do the traveling, too. It's a 5-6 hour one way trip.
Only took an oil change, battery, heater core swap, tires, brakes, sealing leaky windshields, building a home security system for my family while I away for this mission & finding & buying more real estate.

sorry, i did mean 3.4, not 4.3. i do know the difference
. as far as the headers "fitting" in a carb'd car, they will fit. they will bolt up to the heads and clear the frame rails the same as they would in a MPFI equipped car. do the air tubes HAVE to be hooked back up? i'm just asking because i have not really looked at how they are run/what they are hooked to, etc.

Screw the air tubes. Getting the headers will give me a great excuse to get rid of them anyway.
I just hope the car will pass the emission tests afterwards....
If not, I'll just change the entire engine to an 85+ and get fuel injection.

To me, if ya have a carb'd V6 version F Body, your platform is perfect candidate for upgrading to V8 power, easily. For probably "same" cost as modding a V6, if done wi$ely.
The exhaust system being designed & sent to CARB is for the 85-92 60* V6 F Body platform.
Certainly, this 85-92 60* V6 F Body platform header would fit the 82-84 V6 60* carb'd vehicle, too. Passing smog is your call if adapting headers to your ride.
