distributor and plug wires..
i'm looking for the best quality distributor cap and plug wires for my 2.8. I was thinking msd but i heard that they don't make them for 6 cyl
for plug wire I have the accel 8.8 mm ones. Get them for a V8 and then you have 2 extra wires. A couple other people are doing the same thing. Ked85 is one of them, I believe. As for distributor cap I don't know which one is best. I just have a regular old stock replacement that has worked fine.

wires: you can buy a set of universal msd wires and cut them to fit. i'm not sure if they actually make a set specifically that will drop right into our cars.
cap and rotor: conrad is supposedly the same as msd, they're red anyways
. i have a conrad cap and rotor on mine for a while, the cap still is but the rotor wore out. i'm not sure if it was "premature" or if it was just time to replace it, or a little late maybe. otherwise, there is bluestreak (?) and maybe others.

My 3.4 mills are running the Accel 8.8 & they are worth it. A very superior plug wire. I gained a smoother idle & maybe a hair more pep, but smoother idle was the best result.
Caps?
I USED to use Accel because of the "Brass contacts under the cap".
And that's a great reason, too.
I use now Borg Warner Premier Series, Same cap same brass contact under the cap as Accel saves me about $5 or so which goes to gas tank.
Phone around & see what's offered.
PS I got my Accel 8.8 plug wires as replacement from Accel due to their Life Time warranty policy. They upgraded my Accel Super Stock wires (bought back in 1990) to their best 8.8s (beside the Accel 300+ plug wire series).
In all seriousness ACCEL MAKES GREAT STUFF & I've been saying that for past 20+ years. 5 different personal rides all using Accel parts.
In my Firebird I use a remote Accel coil set up the firewall. My Blazer is same idea coil set up. The Accel coil in Blazer is over 100,000 miles & now 14 years.

Head to your local Autozone, and get the Conrad cap/rotor set. That's what I'm using on the Turbo 3.1.
For wires, I'd recommend MSD (8.5mm), Accel (8.8mm), or Taylor (10.4mm) wires for the aftermarket, and the Bosch ones are pretty good, for a stock 7mm wire.
