Welcome to the frankenstien W/C project.
This weekend I an going to work on adapting 2 blower fans from a car that will be hooked to a 3/4 horse electric motor. Hoping to see 600+ CFM at 2.5 PSI through that little 83 chevette heater core!

This folder is currently empty.

BUy a $10-$20 ceramic heater from a discount store. [cheaper in summer] take it apart and remove the heater guts and keep the 11- AC fan. They blow well over 1000 cfm, I know cause with a 1000cfm edelbrock foam air cleaner it would bogged down the fan when put in place.

I find you get the best performance from cooling the whole computer. Every single part. You can reach inside mine and feel heat no where, touch anything you want and it is at room temp or lower / colder than you. So it feel cool to the touch.

Grab air from out side in winter or from an AC in the summer and you have one cool box all year round.

Harder to cool past room temp air so use air that is always colder then room temp.

swiftech 3/8 outlets.

tacky? ugly maybe.. not tacky...
it got alot of attention at the lan actually. More then the guy that brought a koolance case even.

this long weekend I am going to fab up a couple blower fans to a spare 3/4 horse electric motor and see if I can get into the mid/low 80's.

Hrrm, 3/8" is pretty small, i would have gone with at least 1/2", i run 5/8" personally, which is probably why your temps are not very good, that and the waterblock is not very effecient either.

Your heat exchanger (heatercore) is probably not your problem, its probably doing its job, and more airflow isnt going to help any. I run a heatercore and 1 2500rpm 120mm fan and i always get full load temps of ambient + 5c. (with an AXP 2500+ @ 2520mhz)

Swiftech waterblocks are not very good, they are lacking in surface area and turbulance, and the horrible flowrate of 3/8" is not helping either. I use a Dangerden Maze3 with 5/8" barbs.

Also, Water has way better thermal conductivity than antifreeze, i would lower that 80/20% mixture you are running to like 95/5%, or even none at all. Also, distilled water is better than normal tapwater, and a couple drops of dishsoap will help break surface tention and make maximum use of the waterblocks surface area.

Oh yeah, sorry if i am coming off sounding like an ***, just trying to help out, no offense intended.

No Offense taken.

When I started this project about 9 months ago, the block was near top of the line.
The size does not hurt any, I have gotten to 84* on a 3000 AMD.

Right now that pump is hurting more then helping, but it is still lower then the old Hydor L30. I am looking at a squirl cage blower @200+ CFM with an outlet of 4 3/4 X9" which will fit perfectly over a double length H/C. The caprice ones.

Right now it has as seen, 2 120's @120 CFM ea, but since in series, I might be getting 100 or so through the H/C as is. With the new blower, I will get a true 200+ rated CFM through the H/C.

I have also messed with the mixture, and 80/20 came up with most stable/lowest temps. With the block off the CPU, and dthe fans going, it will get covered in condensation in a matter of minutes.
Hopefully by this coming weekend I will have a nice true blower on it.
