Hedders don't fit!!!!!
What the he((. I ATTEMPTED to install my hedders today. The darn things have a great many problems. First off, the Driver side one must have the flange shaved so it will bolt into place. It must also be bent down about 1/2". As for the passenger side hedder.....All skrewd up. I'm going to have to shorten the runners closest to the flange. Either that or magically widen my engine bay. This blows. I wen't through all of the trouble removing the stock manifolds and CUTTING the Y-pipe before the CAT. So, I put the stock manifolds back on and chopped the Y pipe ends off so they hang straight down....SOunds crazy, almost sprint car like. Stupid hedders.

You could probably patch the Y-pipe with a band clamp... same kind that almost took my finger off.

I
I chopped the Y pipe. Now it's just stock manifolds with two separate pipes straight down (hehehe). They are the oldskoool heddman hedders (they don't make them anymore). It's no prob though, I'll just take them to the muffler shop and tell the guy (a good friend of mine)- "make them fit, send me the bill". Also, I forgot to mention, I put a 4" long cut in my shin while cutting the Y pipe. It was VERY bad and needed stitches (But I hate needles, so the stitches and the 500 doctor bill ain't happening).

You'd probably have better luck heating and bending the headers to fit than chopping and rewelding them... just an idea.. this is how people got the fourth gen 3.4 headers to fit their 2.8s

that may be how he (muffler guy) does it. I don't really care. I spent ALL day yesterday jacking with them, I'm done lol. Got me a nice gaping war wound outta the deal.

saw how u were sayhing u were cutting this, here and there...just a question, did u have the motor jacked up in their while "jacking" around with the headers. Know for a fact that on most headers, the only way to make the fit inside the car is to raise the motor up on jacks so you have room to manuever the headers into place, and if they're still not going, you probably just haven't jacked high enough.

I used to have a set of hedmans.. they /installed fit fine. Just did not propperly fit a manual. Interfearance with the slave cylinder. and the rerouting to the stock Y pipe is a nightmare.
I thought you recently said you got a set for PF&E?...

Nah
Just the original heddman ones. I don't know if they are interfereing because of the swap or what (I can't imagine why). I have an Auto, I don't know what the deal is. No worries, they'll be on tommorow.

to late, your already on my ignore list and I can't see, don't care what your saying. You sealed your doom with your **** attitude towards the header projects. We had a guy making them, you ****'ed him off the project. You then try n pedal your over priced goods and we all band together to get pace setters to make a set. why? we don't want yours. why do ya think everyone mailed pace setters to get the headers going. get a clue.

Actually I still think the PF&E headers were a much better design than the original "attempts" by someone else. I'd snag a set but for NJ, it's more important for me to be smog-legal (with that EO #), and that's why I'll be snagging the Pacesetters. But I still give PF&E a thumbs up for designing them!!

See Mr. Gumby not everybody is on the same track as you are. I'm not going to get into personal attacks as you have, i think i'm a little more mature than that. But it seems to me like you're just waiting to hear that PF&E screwed up on something
Why all the hate? Are you that broke yourself that you can't stand to seee someone else come off their wallet and get something nice? We went out of our way to give V6'ers a good product... Is it our fault that they're too nice and cost more to build due to not being mass-produced? So PS gives you a price break, they can afford to...Anyways, if you have a problem with me PM me, leave it off of here.

well lets get off the bitchin, wagon...truth of the matter, the PF&E set is/was a damn good looking design, and as far as performance i'm sure it was as good if not better than the pacesetters....i don't think people were "jumping on" to "overthrow"the PFE designed ones, there was no problem with them, just that many people didn't want to spend lots of money on their v6....think here's the problem. People have a v6, it's not the best performance platform in the world, but when you list mods, they say "headers"well either route will get you headers, so why would they want to pay more? The truth, the real performance guys will still opt for PF&E as the performance parts they'll be buying aren't going to be cheapo's anyway. So PFE, keep those headers available, and keep up with the development of stuff for the lil sixer rides. while there may not be a whole lot of support sometimes, the truth still is that there's always a great benefit to having some well engineered performance parts for the cars...get that turbo gonig.
