I need help with a 3.4L
I am going to try Ked's 2.8L-3.4L swap, sounds A LOT easier than the v6-v8 swap....and he seems to be happy with it.
However, Step I is to acquire a 1993-1995 3.4L...any ideas where to get one in the Delaware area?? ... Local places are VERY pricey. I have not checked the junkyards yet .... but if I get one from the junkyard, it may need rebuild.
This leads to my second question ... What needs to be done to rebuild the 3.4L ... I have no idea how to rebuild engines .. this is my first car (lucky to have an F-body
)... but i've never had engine rebuild courses, all help will helpful...

don't have too much info for ya, but there's ALOT of places online that sell 3.4 blocks (don't know how pricey they are though)
as for rebuild, again i dont know how hard it is to do, but a rebuild kit should come w/ everything or near everything needed to rebuild it. not sure if it comes with instructions though
lol i didn't help you at all..oh well, that's all i know

the 3.4 swap requires noting be done to ecm, wireharness, trans.
Whatever 3.4 you get, ask how many miles were on the engine. If its less then 75k, your safe to swap intake, timing chain cover, and just replace timing chain.
If its over 100k, I would check into having heads inspected, and lower end inspected.
Lots of us have done the 3.4 swap. when you start the project, start a thread, ask any questions you have in the same thread, and we will help you thru.

I swapped a 3.4 into my Jeep, to replace the 2.8. You can buy a GM crate 3.4 for about $1700 if you shop around. I checked with a guy about rebuilding the 2.8 and he told me he couldn't do it (rebuild it) "and do it right" for the price of that 3.4 crate. Now, if you are doing the work yourself, it may be different, but that 3.4 crate motor is nice.

ok,,, The 3.4 swap is WAY easier than a v8 swap and part of the reason its so attractive is the price of a 3.4 is pretty low. Theres still one near me with 60k on it with a 6 mo warr for $475..
You dont have to mess with any wires really. Its basically a engine block swap.
V8 swap on the other hand has alot more involved.
$1700? Sorry for that money i'd have to go with a v8 swap...

Actually, the 3.4 swap would probably be only a little easier, since the ECM, transmission, radiator, and wiring harness require as much attention.
