I'm not sure how accurate it is, but on the door there should be a sticker, I question the accuracy becasue it lists the weight with the car fuly loaded with four passengers or some such nonsense. According to that sticker, my GTA weighs around two tons. NOT!

Were about 250-300lbs lighter than the V8's. Fully loaded with auto and A/C I'd guess to be right around 3100Lbs.
A 60*V6 is about 300#. A V8 is about 550# + heavier brakes wheels/tires, a few other suspension goodies when loaded.

the only real benifit to you is that the motor is set back further.. so the weight bias is better...
downside is, a fully optioned V6 would still weigh more then a no option V8.
i know vsixtoy would debate me on this, but when it comes to performance, the extra power of the V8 (modded) more then makes up for the 200# handicap.

I know you have a Camaro, but according to my NYS title (don't have a sticker.. it disintegrated just like half of the other rubber/plastic stuff in my car), fully optioned with A/C, power windows, power locks, cruise control, and the power rear hatch, my 87 weighs 3132 pounds. Not sure if its right, but it should be close.

Mr Dude, depends on shat your doing- My car is heavy for a V6, Everything on it. A guy on these boards (Glen-Bluethunder) ran autoX the same day I did- he ran FS on racing tires, I ran ESP (for a challange) on streettires (I was the only guy of 11 on street rubber and the first time I ever had that car on the track) I took 5th place in ESP and glen ran just less than 2secs faster than me on a high HP/ high braking demand track- again, he had a V8 slightly modified within FS rules and good racing tires. Racing tires along are good for 3 secs minimum.
You were saying
(I'm just giving you a rash of fun, you are correct- good power will make up and overcome for handling in most cases, but its fun to pull g's). My camaro will walk on my Vette in a corner, But the 540hp Vette will eat the little Camaro for lunch and sh*t it out on a track.

vsixtoy: One of my co-workers runs an 2003 S-10 in FSP, he has his little truck handling very well (better than some cars, he even took 1st place in FSP) but during a track day he attended recently, he was always getting the flag to let people by. He could hang on the corners very well, the straights ate him alive! (19.2 1/4 mile time...) He always chides me for having a 350 TPI that can't keep up with his teeny 2.2L S-10 in turns tht he takes at twice their listed speeds...

No kidding, tell me about it... A dry track also does wonders for traction. "First mod for handling: The driver!"
