is there anywhere that makes a performance distributor and water pump for a 2.8 ltr? i'm planning on doing the 3.4 swap and want new parts to go with it?

I've never understood how you can have a 'performance' distributor. The entire purpose of the distributor is to tell the coil when to ground (via the ignition module). As long as yours has minimal endplay, spins freely, and 'pulses' strongly, how do you improve on it?

I can see in the ignition module, and the ignition coil, improving them to make a stronger, more consistant spark.. but either the distributor tells the module to fire, or not - yes or no, on or off - can't see how you can improve on that

I believe Dean mentioned an Airtex waterpump is supposed to be superior to the stock GM one... he'll have more say there, than I.

You can get a MSD ignition coil and a holley ICM.
Doward is right about the on off of the eletronic ignition.
The holley ICM will increase dewell timing so your coil will get a better charge up higher in the rpm range and the MSD coil will give you more voltage so you can increase you plug gap.
I don't know about a water pump.

I went with the GM Blaster Coil - goes in just like stock, but (I think) with 48k-50k volts!

There is no "performance" distributor, but you can still do far better than a parts store rebuilt unit. For one, follow the distributor rebuild posts made by Tom P, me, and others. Thats a really good starting point. Use high quality cap and rotor ( I have had great luck with Accel), a good coil (MSD Blaster II for the dual connector coil), and high quality 8mm wires (I like Taylors). Check the endplay on the distributor gear too...it should be around .012-.013, but it likely more like .025-.035. Shimming this with a Moroso distributor shim kit will help tremendously.
Flow Kooler makes a disc that can be pop riveted to the stock water pump impeller on most pumps...never looked into it for a V6 (no need really, at least on Redraif's car...it barely hit 200 degrees after several laps on a tight road course). A rebuilt stock unit should be ok.
