3.1L to 4.3L swap
OK Guys and Gals...heres the question.I got a great deal in the works on 93 4.3L V-6 w/41,000 miles out of Chevy Blazer w/4-wheel drive.I want to swap out the 3.1L from my 92 RS due to hi-mileage (216,880) ,will this engine fit my Camaro?I am also gonna tell the guy I want the computer and wiring harness included in the sale.He wants to sell the engine because the body is practically falling off the truck.Once again, will this engine fit my Camaro W/O any MAJOR changes??
Thanx

This has been asked many times before and the answer is no.
It will require modifications in the enginebay and your trans won't mate up with it.

the correct answer is yes. it will fit but it would require all of the same work as installing a V8. it will not bolt up to your current tranny but you can put the V8 version in the car.

Engine: Pos 2.8 pulled and replaced with a 350 tpi motor converted to carb.
Transmission: 700r4, vette servo, shift kit, hayden 15"x8" trans cooler.
It would be as much work dropping a 4.3 in as it would a v8 swap. BUT compared to a 3.4 i think the work would be worth it in the end

basically, yes you are swapping in a V8. Same degree of parts, uses all the same parts as a V8(90* that is- afterall Caddy DOES have a 60* V8)
This will also set you up in case you wanted to swap in a 3.8, 4.3 or later go full V8. The 3.8 gn/TTA motors are killer in a 3rd gen.

here's a Q, where would 305 motor mounts place it in the bay since it's essentially a SBC minus a couple pistons?
Also, the caddy v8 northstar isn't a 60* v8...it's a 90* v8 but uses nearly a 60* bellhousing...i know, i'ts sitting on the stand right now.

I would be willing to bet that the V8 mounts would put the 4.3 in the same position as a V8.
If your that worried about it, get the TTA mounts.

Unless you get luck you're gonna have to spend 300-400 on aftermarket poly mounts with the frame pads.
