87 and 89 similarities?

I found an 89 firebird (V6 i think) with gauges dash. Will this be a direct swap (I have idiot lights on my 87). What will I need to grab to do this? Is all the wiring aready there (specifically wiring related to temp gauges). Is there also any difference in the steering rack between the two years (from one ball joint all the way across to the other)? What about struts? I found a wreck that looks like it had the front suspension rebuilt not to long ago and need to know if they're interchangeable. Any help is appreciated.

The guages can be swapped with just a couple extra things pretty easily. I know someone else out there can handle that question better so I'll let them field that. The front suspension is completely interchangeable.
