would say either lean or retarded
and I don't mean stupid type of retarded
if you can see what the voltage reading on your o2 is
while not perfect if your seeing really low volts and you know the 02 is running right your running lean
also check the timing

My friends 350 used to do that, but that would be after racing, his motor was built up and that would be after racing up and down this corn field side road. You could almost light a cig off of it. But his always ran well. Like said above I would check out to see how lean it's running and check that timing. Before it's to late and something gets seriously messed up, like a head

Check your timing and cat! When we first did the 3.4 swap had some running issues with timing. We got the ex. manifolds so red. No damage though! It was the timing for us though!
Mom's 2.8 had a bad clogged cat. Car would barely run. Flat would not accelerate. Cat glowed, but manifolds did not.
