Mine was around 185k when I pulled it out. It was still going, even though it was starting to form a "clunk" noise on it.
Tranny needed rebuilt long before the engine did.

Had 96,000 miles on it when I got it. Changed plugs, wires, rotor, and distributer cap. Changed the oil, and trans fluid. Changed the air filter and cleaned the throttle body. She runs great, idles smooth, shifts good, and get's decent mileage. Current is 112,844 miles.

Bitchen, I've only owned the car for 3 years. I've only drive it for little over a year. Before that it was bought for my woman to drive.
Since I've owned the car, I'd say its clocked about 25-30k miles in the 3 years. Ive got other cars I drive for when I carry more people, or go on my biz adventures.

75,000 or so on my wife's 92 RS, and she's the original owner. Engine's fine, but the paint won't stay stuck to the car! It's peeling off all over the place, but lucky for me I just befriended a talented paint guy who happens to be a Camaro fanatic, so he'll be stripping and painting it for me in a couple of months. The wife is thrilled!

She still runs pretty good but shes tired and I just ordered a new engine from Precision Engine down in Texas, should be here by next Wednesday 2/5/05..I live in western NY and I travel to Philly alot because thats where I'm from and my kids still are (Yea the EAGLES are gonna win the Super Bowl) and I didnt want to take the chance of the engine quitting on me during a trip.
So.......out with the old and in with the new.

I bought mine in July 2000 with 76,000 miles. I am driving to the Rolex 24 hours at Daytona this weekend. I will flip over to 100,000 on the way there.

I bought mine with 130k and change and now it's at 167k and change. Doesn't burn oil, can't hear any knocks or anything. Got an exhaust leak from where I broke an egr bolt.

I can't tell you what my mileage is, because ever since I've owned the car the speedometer has been off, along with the odometer. about 15% slower than I'm actually travelling... and the same with the odometer....
I got it when it "said" 110k... now it's reading 150k, three years later...
so lets see... since the speedo is off, I guess its been rebuilt right? eh it sounds like crap and its gonna die on me soon, so don't know why the speedo is off...
assuming the car has always had this problem, its got 172k on it... most likely its close to 160k
25k on a rebuilt motor... tranny about to fail... sweaks and hisses...

I bet someone put in the wrong VSS. I know they make 3 different ones for my 91 but if you go to the part store they only show one. I ended up getting mine from GM only cost like 40 bucks.

is there any way to find out if I have the wrong one?
I've often wondered if this was the problem... I don't even know where the sensor is physically located... I thought it might be inside the tranny

I dont know how to tell which one is the correct one maybe go to the dealership and ask. The sensor is located on the back of the tailshaft on the driverside you will see 2 wires going into it.

Yah it just pops out you have to lift the clip on it a little and it will come off then there is 1 bolt that holds it in and just twist it out. You will get alittle tranny fluid on you.

what are some clear symptoms that your tranny is fixing to go out?
when its cold outside I have to rev my motor to like 3,000rpms for a few seconds, then the tranny catches, kinda like when you have the shifter in neutral, then you drop it into 1st.... if I rev the motor in pulses, sometimes I can get it to go into gear without slamming into 1st gear...

Sold my Cutlass with a 3100 in it when it had 125K. Not a lick of trouble other than a slight oil drip which I understand is a normal problem.
Great engine.
