Smog Pump?

Well, I don't have a smog pump, and since I need to get it tagged, I need one...I called my local Autozone and they do sell the smog pump I need. I was wondering if I would be able to install it myself? What would I have to do to install it. How hard would it be if I did do it myself, or if I should just take it to a garage and avoid the hassle (if any). Thanks a bunch.

id say find a junkyard smog pump, buying a brand new one seems a little extreme when you could probably pick one up for about the core price you'd pay on the new one.

if the hoses and such are there it shouldnt be hard at all, but if they arent there, you'll need to snag some off a junkyard car anyway, so you might as well pick up a pump too. i wouldnt dream of paying someone else to do anything i could do for free, so i would say definitely do it yourself. shouldnt be that hard if you get diagrams and all that good stuff.

The new ones about 50 bucks..I could buy myself the junkyard one then have a pizza afterwards! Sounds good, Ill go this weekend to see if they have a smog pump. Also would it have to be the exact same year as my car? Or say can I put in an 86 smog pump or whatever year I find. If I cant looks like I'm going to have to buy a new one, since all I've yet to see a junked 89 bird where I live.

do you still have all of the lines on your car to hook up to the smog pump? you might need to ****** them from the junkyard too
