Problem solved!

I just want to say thanks for everything guys.

https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=282289

I ending up playing with the timing thinking its got to be that. I finally set it to 10 on the balancer and then when I plug is that plug its around 25. Hows that sound. It has so much power. Spun it around when i went and test drove it
crazy!
What do you guys have your timing set at? Is it fine the way it is? Plug wires still acting up but I will put in a new alternator and go from there. I had set the timing before the the screws threads where stripped out, so it would keep loosing causing bad timing New screw, good as new I don't think i will be selling it now, not sure though. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks, and what do you guys have your timing set at? Also it runs great, no more red manifolds but smell rich, i have no cat. so maybe its that? Thanks

And if the the alternator won't cure the glowing problem, then change the spark plug wires one more time. Since the manifolds aren't glowing red hot anymore, maybe the problem would be fixed. (If the glowing is caused by material breakdown in the insulation of the wires due to heat)

What.... ?

The altenator has NOTHING to do with the manifolds glowing. Nor does the wires. The timing is what caused it (told ya Glad to hear it runs good now!!)

I have mine set @ 12º BTDC.

Read his post again. The glowing is NOT solved yet.

"wires still acting up...."

EDIT: I meant the spark plug wires glowing, not the manifolds.

Yeah, car has all its power back. I think the alternator has bad diodes in it. Not sure if that would cause this problem. I have a guy interested in my car now, for 1200 which is what i want, so i maybe selling her . But my next f-body will be an 8. If he does not say he wants it, I'm going to keep it

LOL, I gotcha... I usually refer to the plug wires as 'arcing out' rather than 'glowing' Simple misunderstanding, sorry!

The altenator is EASY to check. Unbolt it (REMOVE THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE FIRST) and take it to your local auto parts store. They can do a full test on a bench, and will tell you exactly what condition it is in

$1200? If your car is in any kind of good shape, you should be able to get $2000 at least for it.

Thirdgens are coming up in price.... I'm watching beat-to-crap Fbodies go for $1500-$2000 around here
