Hey , I was thinking about checking the timming for my 89 rs with 2.8 mpfi . Haynes manual said to check veci label and I don't have one in the engine compartment . And a search of this sight (4 timming marks 2.8 )lead me every where and some 500 post .

So if any one could help THANKS

Then I want to move on to idle adjustment procedure according to LinuxGuy from this same sight and thanks to everyone this is a great board

i think that mine said to set it at 12* with the thingy unplugged. i set it at 15 for better acceleration under load and for better top end perfomance

play with it to see what the engine likes the best. it will tell you where to set it if you are listening. i have never had luck with timing lights, but if i do it by listening to the engine, i hit it right on within 5 minutes every time.

mine runs best at about 17* anything more than that, and it is too slow on the lower rpm's

With 168,000 miles heck It will cruze for 2.8 just tring to find that smooooooth spot you know working out the bugs and learnin bout the machine
