Probably your heater control valve; does it have a thin vacuum line coming out of the top, with two heater hoses out of the bottom? Should cost $15 at the local parts store. Like you noticed, it's plastic- and by now its very brittle so don't try to tighten the clamps on it!! I've seen quite a few of those snap- and then the person's stranded.

a small leak can easily blow open if the car gets hot enough, i would replace it immediately.

un????ing beliveable $403

can u belive i called car quest today to buy one of these heater diverters and they told me that it was going to cost $403 to replace it.....he said he knew what i was talking about,so i decieded to call auto zone and they told me that they do not carry this part... so on a last chance before calling the junk yard,i got a hold of kargen's and they told me they have it and it's only $19.99 ....... anyone have any idea why car quest wanted to charge me sooo much????? i felt like finding a valve at the hardware store that i could use to keep it shut off, since i am not using the heater at all .

thank you everyone for ur post, reply's, and advice.i will get it checked out.......

make sure you get the one that looks like the one in the picture on the link above. Every time I baught one they tried to sell me one that only had one inlet and one outlet. Then told me that the one in the picture is for the '93 Camaro. These chain stores only know how to read what the computer tells them, and if they are loaded with the wrong information that is what you get. Wrong information.
