Ran a 16.6

I just ran a 16.6@84mph. I keep reading things saying how these car are 17 sec cars and but my first time racing I got a 16.6. I only have a gutted airbox and a catback system and a 700R4 trans. I think thats pretty good for being relatively stock

That's quite impressive.
Muscle cars back in the post 1975 era were running that "fast!".
Your ET is very strong.
Others may debate or "say" but you got the proof.

just out of curiosity what was your 60ft time?
i ran a 10.8 last weekend with serious traction issues and running really lean on the 1/8th. i haven't gotten down to a 1/4 mile track to run but i should be running about the same if not a little faster. my 1/8th speed was like 65mph. i got the slips at home, but just don't have a digital camera to post them. maybe next paycheck after insurance is due!

It's a decent 60, but you've got room to improve!

At those speeds .1 off your 60 should equate to around .2 off of your 1/4 ET. Do some suspension and maybe another power mod and you can get a quicker short time than a 2.2!

lol. its just a v6. its not going to pull 1.9Xs on a stock motor! it'll probably never pull 2.1Xs on a stock motor.

i got a 2.8 and i am still running about the same times as the 3.1's. if you are running 18's there is something wrong there, the engine isn't running on all 6 or something. that is almost 1.2 seconds off of the normal time of the 6 cyl f bodies!

r/t-.254
60-2.585-street tires spun bad non-posi rear dont help
330-7.432
1/8-11.480
mph-61.37
1000-15.011
1/4-18.286 @ 64.66

personally i see where i would be pulling so bad on you, your 60ft time is about what i been running, and yes i been having traction issues too, i would pull almost .5 seconds on you by the 330 ft mark and pull another almost second on you to the 1/8th mile mark, after that i don't know cause i only been able to run 1/8th miles as of yet.
i do the 1/8th at 64.65,

try a tranny flush and change the filter. (i am assuming the 700r4 has one) make sure that you don't got any metal shavings in there!

you can make almost anything pull a good 60! I'll bet with enough practice he can cut a 2.05 or so. He'll have to get more power if he wants to break into the sub 2's though. A converter will help greatly as well.

The 60 foot is the most important part of a race, as well as the hardest and easiest (in some aspects). Most every car with some suspension work a few power mods can pull a 2.1.

i don't think so man, am91camaro_rs is the fastest of all of us N/A 6's and the best he can do is a 2.05 even with all the mods i am doing, i doubt that i am gonna be able to get down lower than about 1.85 and that is really pushing it th even thing that i may be able to get down that low!

yeah, anywhere even into the 2.1Xs is kind of tough to do with one of these cars! weight transfer is all that you could ask for on my car. so, spinning isn't any issue. the tranny does have some issues but hopefully i can get that fixed before too much longer. i'm not sure if its having any problems when i launch or not though...doesn't really act like it. the car does need tuned, bad! well, computer, not motor. but, like 87blue said....i've only gotten a 2.05 60'.
