My daughter just purchased a 1987 Firebird with the 2.8L 6 banger.
Are there any good/custom air cleaners or intakes for these cars?
Any pictures out there? I would like to see what others have done with their 6 cylinders!

Their is none to buy, you will have to fab something up with pvc tubing, and a 3" "*****" filter.

(Edit) Nevermind, you have a firebird, different intake. But you can cut the bottom of that air box, too. Or go to a junkyard and find this intake from the camaro. Wow, old post, 4 years old now.
You could do this:

Cut the bottoms of the air boxes out to create more air flow, and then use K&N filters.

Thats what mine looks like. Mine is a 3.1 not a 2.8 but its the same set up
I used 3in PVC and a massive K&N filter. Alot of people use the smaller filter but i had this one laying around. You will have to find somewhere to put your sensor. Mine is one of those small intake temp sensors so all i had to do was drill a 5/8 hole near the front of the intake and thread it in there nice. I topped it all off with 4 in flex tubing used for air ducts. Overall it looks amazing in person and I noticed a nice sound of it sucking in as much air as it needs. It helped a lil bit on throttle responce and also gave the exhaust a lil deaper note.

There are actually "kits" sold on ebay that come with all the chrome tubing, bends and a K&N knockoff.
And I kinda doubt this guys daughter wants him taking off the manifold and making her car carborated. Fuel injection is the way to go anyway.

Umm, Camaro intakes don't work on the Bird. Lower hood clearance, you know. Which is why GM used 2 different setups between.Originally Posted by d00012
