Valve Covers Help Fast!!!

ok, yes i have searched for the answer but its still not clear to me. Can I or Can I Not change the Valve Cover Gaskets WITHOUT taking the entire Plentum off? If I can then I am missing something here, cause I can't even see the bolts/studs that hold the inner side of the cover?? by the way my car is a '91 3.1 v6 with A/C. Help Fast please.

This sucks! what a crappy design! I just don't trust myself on taking all that stuff off. I figure I would have to take the whole plentum off not just the top half, plus all those wires/hoses, throttle body, and who knows what else, plus won't I have to take the fuel rails out too? I don't know about this guys it may be too much for me to handle?? does anyone have any pointers on doing this maybe pictures? I have a haynes manual but its not clear enough for my hillbilly mind. I need to do this because its leaking so bad, plus all the mechanics wanna charge me $300 or more to do this job.

youll have to pull the upper plenum off, t/b can stay on, just disconnect and remove anything attached to it or in the way to get it off. pull the coil bracket off, bleed off the fuel rail at the schrader valve on the back of the rail, pull the rail off, then the lower plenum. now pull the valve covers off. i had to pull the dist out to get the intake manifold off. now pull the intake off. reverse order and youre good to go. you DO NOT have to pull the push rods, you can cut the parts of the intake gasket off that goes behind the push rods. i made that mistake my first time, just wastes time and you take a chance at not readjusting them correctly. now reverse your steps, and youre all done. oh dont forget to replace the o-ring on the distributor, or youll have to do it right after.
