Rev limiter??

Whats the highest I can rev my little 2.8 V6 MPFI?? I got ported intake and CAI dont kinow if thatll make a differance but Ive had it at 7300 and well it didnt sound healthy but at the same time looked like it was still pulling hard all the way up there.

stock internals are rated to 7k, mine pegs the limiter at about 6k though. i wouldnt run up to 7k on a high mileage top end though, keep it below 6k.

The bottom end is rated to 7000, but def. not the top. Thing is, you need to get a lot of air flow at that rpm, and even with a ported intake and a cai, your heads would be the severe limiting factor. Most will say the car can't build any more power past 4500-5000 without some type of headwork. So no point revvin that high if you won't be making any extra power, its just gonna make something fail faster.

i read a GM document that someone had uploaded here that said our engines are good for 8000rpm but i would not do that or even close to that on a old wornout motor. heck i wouldnt do that on my brandnew one.

I have not seen in person a V6 F body that has one programed into the chip. I have had my 92 upto and floating around 9K a few times from missed shifts, so...
the only thing I have seen is the speed limiter at 110-116
