Did you get the engine computer and wiring harness???

might wanna get it if you can. I don't remember or am sure off hand but some 3.4 had that cam / crank trigger, what ever it is. Dis. are dumb and a waste of energy spining it when there is plenty of other spinnin parts to get a reading off of. which is what that one does. has to be worth 1-2 ponies.

If you're just looking to swap from your 2.8L to a 3.4, remove the 3.4 intake and replace with the 2.8 intake, and then you can install the dizzy, retaining your OEM ECM and wiring.

To use the DIS ignition will require an ECM change and mild to moderate modification to the harness, if yiou use an ECM from say a '89ish Cavalier, Beretta, etc. To use the 3.4 SFI PCM requires other additional parts to get around the VATS (Vehicle Anti Theft System).

Most people find they gain more power using a dizzy than a wastespark DIS ignition.

ALL 660 have that same gear, to drive the oil pump. Even the DOHC has a "dummy shaft" that is in the same location as an OHV version, that is there solely for the purpose of the oil pump drive.

so all he has to do is remove the cover plate over the distributor hole and insert the distributor right?

Oh, but what about all those sensors? Doesn't the 3.4 use a cam and crank sensor in the block somewhere?

Go to the Tech article section and look up the 3.4 swap boogie by KED85. There's a load of info in there so you don't have to ask questions about it.

Yes, after he aligns everything up to properly install a distrib.

Sensors, leave them unplugged and in the hole is what most do. I removed the crank sensor and plugged it with a freeze plug. couldnt get the cam sensor out.

He will have to move the knock sensor from the upper right side, to lower left down by the starter.

This has been beaten to death, and a tech article wrote by a very wise (but RIP member).
