V8 vs V6 front springs

how much will the front end of my car seup in the air with the V8 springs rather that the V6 ones? im just curiouse cause i replaced all the front wheel bearings and i noticed that the front wheels point out at the top and then i checked and the car sits a bit higher on the front. it kinda looks how the wheels do after you lower the front down off a jack just not as much angle.

It would be a good amount and the car wouldn't handle right I'm pretty sure. Alignment might be off.

get the alignment done at sears (I used to work for the bastards) and as much as I hate the place they do have one good policy about alignments, no matter how bad you manage to screw it up, as long as nothings been worked on that can screw the align. up (or obviously done to it at least) you can get it redone free for 12-18mo depending on where you originally get it done at.

How bad was it to replace the wheel bearings? Im thinking I should do mine once its out of the shop again.

3rd gens have a special A-arm n parts [I think] that most other GM brands want. Our system is set up on purpose so the tires are kinda angled straight. That is so when we turn, our tires ride flat. Giving a better grip for super sharp turns. Where other GM cars ride up on the edge in a turn and run flat straight.

only cetrain cars come set up like this, I know 2nd, 3rd gens do.
Its a mod lots of buick guys do, get some 2nd gen spindles, a-arms n parts to improve turing and still looking stock.

wheel bearings are real easy to replace on the front. just jack up one or both sides and pull the wheel then take off the grease cap its the cover at the very end of the spindle. then take the cotter pin out of the casle nut and remove the nut. then slide the rotor off the spindle and take the outer bearing out it should just fall out or if it is all greased up it will need to be pulled out. then remove the seal from the back side I used a sharp chisle to get under the lip a bit, But be carefull not to nick the rotor if you do it that way. then take out the inside bearing. to put it back in just make shure you pack the bearings with grease Real well and then just do the reverse of the removal. oh its best to get a new seal as the one you take out will get messed up unless your real carefull about removing it.

here is the differance with v8 springs in a v6 car and stock v6 replacements

this one really shows the differance your front end will sit only slitly higher then the rear
the springs on both cars are about 2 years old now but the camaro has v6 replacments and the the firebird has v8 replacment front springs ride is much harsher but really dosnt make it handel any better is nice as you dont scrape the front bumper over large dips in the road and what not

Engine catching fire sucks for the owner, but it truly is a remarkable sight. Mesmerizing...

Boat engine fires are more fun. As most time the only thing you can do is paddle away and watch it burn. Surrounded by water.

Maybe some general info would help compare. Find a place to measure that is the same on all 3rd gens.

tire size rim
and measure from say center of rim to the metal fender lip?
discount the plastic linner if it hangs....

well doin a real quick in the dark measure id say perty close to 15 inches fron center of the hubcap thing to the metal fender lip. and more than 6 inches of ground clearance at the rocker pannel under the door. wheel size 215/65/r15. Ill take some more carefull measurements on a flat parking lot tomorrow its on the street now. Im just wanting to find out if i should buy V6 springs if i have V8 ones or if i already have the proper ones to get a slight drop set. i like the clearance but with the car siting this high it makes for some interesting Cornering when goin at any real speed.

Well to compare I was thinking

go here and get tire info

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalcold.html

Your tire radius is 13.0 and you have 15.0 inches from center to lip, so its 28 inches from bottom of tire to fender lip. Front and rear is probably different. Maybe even side to side.

well yes it is different with a full tank the difference is noticeable to the eye and with a empty tank it is still noticeable just not as much. like i said i just want to get the hight down some it sets so high that i have yet to scrape the nose in the year that i have been driving the car. if i have V8 springs ill install V6 ones, if i have V6 ones ill install some drop springs. Empty tank about even, full very noticeable slope to the rear.

That's messed up... I put 300+ lbs in the back of my bird the first year I had it for the winter and I could see if sloped towards the rear a little bit, not that much though... Full tank of gas should only be like 120lbs....

They wont. Lost of places have the V8 on the brain and don't make V6 products. If you want lowered performance springs......... You have to find some V8 ones that work how you want. Or buy adjustable ones.

If your rear is saggin, probably the rear springs. Shocks suck and once worn the spring takes all the load. ANd people don't change them often enough as the springs make it seem ok. Struts are swesome and last forever and the springs don't wear out.

Unless you know 100% for sure you have V8 springs on your struts. You *** end is saggin.

How about a worn out set of V8 springs?

Drop Zone makes lowering springs for the v6, you can usually get them on ebay. I think there are a few other companies that make them as well.
