the blocks should be identical. just put All of your stuff off of your old engine on it and it should work.

I think you will also need to get an in-line electric fuel pump for a carb. The '86 2.8 is fuel injected but has something like 30 more HP than your '83. Enjoy the difference.

But he said he wasnt getting the Intake so he dont need to do anymore than put his carb setup on this block to be back to running. plus he would ned the ECM and the wiring harness for the engine aswell to get it to work and if your gonna go that far you might as well just get a 3.4 from a 4thgen and put it in there.

No you sid in your first post it was just a bare block right? then all you do is take EVERYTHING missing from the new block off of your old engine and put it on the new block and put it back in the car. now if you wanted to get that Extra 30 hp you would have to get everthing for a MPFI car such as the intake, ECU, fuelrail, injectors, and anything else the system needs. the two will not mix and match. i was refering to using the fuel injected intake versus your carb system in the prior post and that to get the MPFI to work oun your car would be the same nomber of changes as installing a much more powerfull 3.4 with its ECU and such. k?

I don't think the '86 block has provisions for a mechanical fuel pump.
