im getting about 180ish miles out of a tank (fill up right at 1/4 of a tank i useally never allow it to get below the 1/4 mark)... do a tune up. make sure your tires are correctly inflated (right PSI) and if you have a carb on the car (like me :P) make sure the carb is adjusted correctly and make sur ethe car isnt running rich...

Put a crank power pully on "underdrive pully" it will increase your MPG.

if your iac was going bad would that effect gas mileage ive done a complete tune up everything possible except changing the iac and putting the fuel filter thats in my closet on. If it does effect gas mileage how much better mileage should i see with the new fuel filter and iac on

The IAC doesn't normally affect performace or milage as long as it's working properly. I wouldn't expect any gain out of it.

Did you change the O2 sensor, that's a big thing that people miss on their tune-ups.

My car gets right around 24mpg with a mix of both city and freeway driving, and the freeways here in L.A. are almost like getting city milage anyway during rush hour.

No remember that's with a manual transmission car, autos get slightly less. The O2 I have must be 3 years old at least just because I'm too lazy to change it. I think I might go do that right now...

Fuel filter- single best thing you can do to save gas

My 2.8 5 spd peaked 25 mpg HW
My 5.0TBI A4 peaks 32 mpg HW with the 2.73 rear
227,000 original miles, no mods has its benifits

Ive got a mystery vaccuum leak thats dropped me to 28-9ish HW and made my idle rough, currently

hmmm.....gas is about $2.82 or so for REGULAR down here!

You can get better gas mileage by not using the A/C.....IMO only 3rd gens should be driven with the window down cause they just look sooooooooooo cool with the driver's elbow sticking out the wondow!

Yea.. dye was put in, they didnt spot any leaks... the next thing im going to do when i get the cash it to replace EVERYTHING that relates to the a/c system (compressor/acculator/condenser/ect ect) and then have it recharged.. im begining to think that when i had the system converted over to the new freon or what ever they call it now, the shop screwed up my system.. i know i had a low pressure side connection that was striped all to hell by them (a/c filter tube).... at this point in time. .i just want to figure out why my rpm's shoot up to 3000rpms when i turn on the heater on the defrost setting..

hmmm...I know that when my A/C died (I think my compressor is seizing up again though ) the RPMs would go up higher because it's supposed to when the compressor engages. But I was so low on freon the compressor didn't engage so the RPMs just went up without the compressor load compensating for it. I don't think they went up to 3,000 though.

When my car is running right, I easly get 200 per tank all in town. I dont trust the gauge so I always fill up around 200.

I know on the interstate, my x got 29.x mpg out of it. I never could. My best was around 27 interstate.

87oct friday was 2.19 here.

PUF! Dont' cry about this.

I pay $ 4.07 per 97 octane here.

Local 1 liter = CH$ 564 @ CH$ 527/ US$ 1 = US$ 1.07 per liter x 3.8 = US$ 4.07 per gallon.

What do you think about this?

Regards,

Denis V.:

Thats how them oil companis are showing record profits. That scam they worked up called the metric system, is working.

no way they could ever pull that liter crap in the US.
We'd burn the places down and make poo fuel.
