Mainly interested in owners ot the MTC-5 cam, but all aftermarket cam discussion is ok.

MTC-5 Owners, can you get a steady vac reading on your engine? Or does this cam have to much overlap that it will cause a bouncy reading like you have a leak?

All other cam owners, post your cam and if you can/cant get a steady reading.

Well I don't have the MTC-5 cam but I do have the compcam 240H. I brought the kit with the tc and lifters and have no complaints. Gas mileage is a little better and the pep is ok. I get good vac readings also and it sounds good with the catback. Not a racer but its good for a daily driver which mines has turned out to be since its so much fun to drive.

I still have a few little glitches. My gauge bounces a bit. My dad says its the cam with to much overlap. IIRC, the first cam that lasted 100 miles gave me a steady vac. So before I start to rip all this crap apart, I want to know from someone else.

Well I do have an aftermarket cam but it's in a 350, with 224/230* @.050" in an engine with only 8.3:1 CR which is too low for it and I have fluctuating vacuum, 12-13.5" Hg. I don't have any vacuum leaks at the intake and frankly I don't worry about it, it does not affect anything.

What is the concern you have over this fluctuating reading? Are you just bugged by it, or is it causing actual problems?

I forget, its been a few days since I hooked it up.

I recall the first MTC-5 I had, had more pep then this one. Also, at first throttle I get a "hickup" then it runs. TPS is set properly.

Didnt get a chance to scan it this weekend.

Dave or Doward, were you able to verify this for me?

Nothing on the outside of my engine is causing this. First cam I belive it was steady, this one is twitching like a crackhead w/o a fix.
