I've searched on here as well as other parts on the web. I've only found 2 products...well 1 and not sure if the other will work. Suspension Techniques 1" drop lowering springs, and DropZone DZ3100 - 1.75" front/1.5" rear drop. What I don't know is if the DropZone springs will work for the V6. Wondering if there are any other springs available for our cars??? And i'd like to see some pictures if anyone has any.

 

im sure there arent much difference between the v6 and v8 suspensions.

I am NOT sure but all the swaybars and panhard bars I bought
was a perfect fit.

usually when they say it will fit 82-92 fbody,
it will most likely fit your v6 as well.

except for strut tower brace I bought I had to drill a hole.. and
it was not too fitting.

 

The drop zone 1" springs are correct.

I have some set, said to be for a v6, they are not.

Swaybars off a v8 will mount up, but remember the combos for v8 are not the matching combos for a 6. You have to try a few and swap aroud tell you get a combo that performs to your style and likes.

 

Not quite, all that i've seen are all for V8, and in talking with an Eibach rep., I asked if they made any for our cars and he said no, and the ones they offer won't work either.
If the dropzone ones are correct, that's good, I didn't want to drop it more than 1" anyway.

 

Yes, the drop zone 1" are correct, a few members here have them. I wanted more, so I tryed some other routes, didnt go to well.

1" will more then likely just be a bit lower then where you are now as your stock springs are sagging.

If you can find a current picture of my car, it is approx 1.75. Old member dean (um, has several screen names, tan and marron camaro with some stripes), his is about 2-2.25" in front, and about 1.75/2.0 rear. these are numbers for reference to go by.

(edit) I'll have my camera out tommorow if you want some pics of mine, and dont mind excusing the nasty rims and dirt and would like a pic.

 

i have the dropzones. if they dont have them listed for a v6, you can call them, they do have them. pics on my cardomain site. ive had them for 3 years and no complaints.

did you check ebay? they got some for the v6 that do 1.75 all around.

im sure the v8 springs will fit the v6 but a v8 is quite a bit heavier so the springs arnt the same. using a v8 spring for the front is probably gonna raise it but i dunno prove me wrong?

Any V8 springs will work on a lighter V6 with just a tad of trimming.

 

I have Eibach Sportines on my wife's '91RS with no rubber isolators. I have some pics of it posted in other threads on this V6 forum, do a search on this board under the lowering springs subject and you will find them.

The difference between the V6 and V8 springs is likely the spring rate, but I have not experienced any handling problems because of it. DO keep in mind these cars are low as it is, you will have a lot of scrapage problems and it will have a harsh ride.

 

Here is a picture of my car with sprint springs from ebay. I ordered the V6 springs but the picture tells the story. It has leveled out since the 350 swap.

 

I got my 1.75 off ebay. It lowered the rear to where you see it. It left the front at stock height. I have a picture of it, but I would REALLY have to dig thru about 40k in pictures.

 

I understand the car won't ride as comfortable as it does now, but how do they feel? I'd like for someone to sit in my car and actually tell me it's a comfortable ride, instead of it being a really bumpy ride...i've sat in lowered vehicles and some feel good, some are almost torture on the back.

 

Depends on how you go about lowering it and what spring rates you go with.

The good ridding ones prob wernt slammed out and still had some travel. Done with replacing the springs, modified/replaced bump shocks, and other parts replaced as well (every car depends here).

Bad ones... cut springs, on stock bump stops or just flat removed, in-propper shocks, and no other parts replaced.

Just thought i'd share. Eibach actually makes a lowering kit for the V6 1990-1992 cars, don't know why it's under Edelbrock on the link below.. DROPZONE quit making the springs but said they MAY make more in 4-6months.

What's different on the 90-92 V6 cars compared to older 82-89 V6 cars? Other than 2.8l vs 3.1l offcourse , but the weight difference is probably pretty insignificant.

So will the edelbrock ones fit older vehicles?

 

I don't see why not, almost everything that has to do with suspension fits 82-92...not just 90-92.

 

hey guys im looking for a set of stiffer springs,with the absolute min drop in ride hieght,only cause the pipes for my turbo setup run below my k member.got any suggestions.id say at max i have maybe .5-.75 i could drop but deff no more then that.besides that if i go any lower i wont be able to fit my slicks on the rear or swap over to the 17 inch vette rims

 

Dave, the smallest drop i've seen for the V6's is 1". You could cut the ones you have now, or buy newer, stiffer ones and compare to the ones you have now, cut accordingly. Depending on how much yours sag now, you may have to cut more off.

 

not sagging at all.ive got v8 1LE springs in the rear and brand new v6 springs in the front.i may just cut my v8 1LE front springs down.though im looking into some coilovers front and rear.cause im doing away with the rear suspension all together.well sort of.im going to be building custom lca's that have a link that goes to the top of the rearend axle tube .eliminating the need for the tq arm
