Axle/Gears: Ford 9" / GM 10bolt
Head Type

Does the 87 Firebird 2.8 have aluminum heads or cast iron

Engine: 2.8 MFI
Transmission: v6 700R4 wish it was a 5spd Stick
Axle/Gears: Stock non posi 3.42s
ALL F-bodys that have the 60* v6 block IE RWD 2.8/3.1/3.4 ALL have the Iron heads. Only FWD 60* V6s came with the alum heads. Using the Alum heads requires A DIS ignition or a custom intake to clear the Dist hole. to use the Alum heads you must also swap the pistons to the FWD versions for each of the different displacements to keep Compression ratios down because the FWD head has a much smaller chamber.
