Well, in case some of you didn't know, my timing chain broke while at an idle. A chain tensioner bolt came out and went into the sprocket. I got the crank and cam lined up again and installed a new chain and sprocket set.
I jacked up the front a ways and used some diesel and then oil poured into the front of the pan to flush out anything. Also stuck a few magnets on the bottom of the pan.
I wish I had time to raise the engine and drop the pan, but I start work tomorrow, and the nova just isn't driveable anymore.
Did a compression check of all the cylinders. They all came out about the same, with one cyl being 10psi less and another was about 5 less. They also may have had more gas in the rings though washing away the oil, so it's hard to tell. I may check it again in the next few days
Seems like there's a tad bit more noise from the right side area than what I remember, but it also seemed to get quieter as I drove down the road and back a few miles to test it out. I heard it mostly under load. Not a ticking or anything, it's hard to describe. I'll listen again tomorrow. Slightly bent pushrod rubbing a little? I don't know.
I also intend to pick up some more oil and a filter tomorrow and change it again.
Unless I find a truck like I want soon, I won't really have a chance to take the top end off and check the pushrods and valve adjustment for the next week and a half.
I almost went out today to look at some trucks, couldn't find what I was looking for anywhere close on autotrader or kbb, so I stayed home to see if I could get the car running instead. (I only got it back yesterday, and spent most of the morning today looking at trucks and waiting for the timing chain.)

With our engines there is no worry about anything hitting when the chain goes, so don't worry about it.
This happened to me once, the chain was so loose from wear that it managed to get a hold of the guide in the middle and rip part of it off. That part got pressed into the crank gear and the car was obviously unusable.
Nothing hits, so unless you had something wrong with the top end or compression before, you shouldn't have a problem now.
