Maximum RPM for stock V6 roller lifters?
Hi guys, I am using 2.8/3.1/3.4 stock roller lifters in a retrofit roller conversion on a 350. I am going to be making peak HP around 6200 rpms. Has anyone with a modified V6 routinely spun their engine at least this high with stock roller lifters, and not had problems with valve float?
Thanks
Thanks

None of ours have roller lifters in them......... yet. They are in FWD versions of our engines. (grand prix, grand am, transport, etc)
I assume you already know this, but our lifters are consiberly larger diameter then the v8's.

Oops on the roller lifters, I'll have to bother the FWD guys. The roller 60 deg V6 lifters are 0.842 dia like the V8s, it's common to use them as retro roller conversions on V8s because they are short enough to work with the roller dog bone retainers on a non roller block.

However, the V6 lifters are MUCH choter than teh SBC lifters and will not be retained, like need be, to keep them from rotating.
This would be the first time I've heard of using 660 lifters in a SBC, mostly due to the length issue.
You're better off using V8 parts, like from the newer SBC, especially since they use a dog bone that can be adapted easier, to retain the lifter and they are the correct hight.

Trust me, I'm not the first person to do this by far. The 660 lifter being shorter is necessary when using it in a GEN I block. I am using the dog bone retainer and the hold down in a Gen I block. BUT the lifter bosses are shorter in a GEN I block and the Gen II roller lifters would hit the dog bone at max lift.
Already had this figured out, just need to know on the rpms range, thanks

You know what don't worry about it, I have already verified this works and have full documentation on it, was just wondering on the RPM capability but it looks like I'll just have to test it myself.
