shinny engines

Everytime I look at the V8 3rd gens, I cant help but notice that they are realy shinny and polished up realy good. And then when I see a V6 3rd gen, the first thing I notice is the big, dirty intake manifold and plenum. does any one here have a polished V6. I'm thinking of doing my intake manifold, plenum, throttle body and alternator this summer. What about you guys?

Re: shinny engines

A guy on here from texarana AR polished his up, looked nice. I belive most of us here paint them. Redraif did a very nice paint job on her intake and fiero valve covers.

My intake looks good, and the pics do no justice. It is painted with Duplicolor anodizing paint (2 step process). The new water pump is done the same, sorry my engine isn't shiney, but the next hybrid I'm putting together will .

That's because the V6 crowd tends to not baby their cars. . We're real mechanics, all go no show. :P

Nah, just kidding, I have seen a few polished V6's, looks good. RedRaif's enginebay was very cleaned up. Not a fan of her car though.

Re: shinny engines

Mine isn't exactly shiny, but its not dirty either. I like my red "X" outline on my plenum, since then I've got the middle circle chrome-red, too. I've got a red intake and red plug wires to match, also.

I like stuff with a bit of theme.

I polished mine up. When I'm on my desktop computer, I'll put up a pic of it.

The picture is a little small but i like what i see! How may I ask did you go and do that and what kind of paint did you use? I'm guessing that its not spray right? I'm thinking of doing that but in black.

Re: shinny engines

I'll try to get a bigger pic, but I'm on a different computer right now. Since I took that one, I've replaced my vaccuum lines with red silicon lines, too.

I actually did use spray paint, some 500 degree rated engine enamel. Took alot of taping , and some leaked through but I cleaned it up with some cotton swabs and acetone.
I'll get that pic soon.

The lines don't look very clean in the picture, and the vacuum lines obviously aren't changed, but it gives you the idea.

I've also painted the center 'MPFI 2.8' center in a chromish red since that pic.

Here is Redraif's old (stock but ported) intake; we had a lot of time in this piece, but it was worth it.

They do still exsist... I had wondered were you all went cause I hadn't seen any posts in a while. How's the car running? Any newer times/dyno numbers?

Both of us have had a lot going on the last year or so, and due to some paint issues the car isn't back together yet, so there have been no dyno #s since the last ones posted. Hopefully soon.

Re: shinny engines

not to get off subject but is it even worth porting the intake manifold?? cuz i'm doing some porting for a friend who has a turbo'd talon but i figured while i was at it and the car wasn't on the road i'd rip the intake off and port it if there is indeed a noticeable gain... btw very nice painting on everything

Re: shinny engines

Dude who did ur intake manifold looks like a v6 version of tuned port injection. How far does the engine pull as far the RPMS are concerned. I've been searching for that setup for a while.
