I would check the fuel pressure and see if you have spark.

Re: what happend?

Most likely need a new fuel pump but if youre lucky it could just be a clog in the fuel filter.

Re: what happend?

Same thing happened to my brother in his firebird. Drove fine, then parked it out for like a hour, started it up, drove a foot, and it just died... unfortunately it was a fuel pump

Re: what happend?

No way the brakes locked up.

If it was a manual, it could be that the engine just died and caused the tires to lock up.

That is why I asked what transmission it was.

When your engine shuts off, or dies, you lose your power brakes. Basically you have to stand on the petal to make it stop.
Also are you throwing any codes?

Re: what happend?

Open the Fuel Door and Cap have someone turn the key 'on'. You should hear the pump for 2 seconds. Doesn't mean that it is good, but if you don't hear the pump it's definitely BAD (possible relay)! Also hit the tank with a rubber mallet, if it starts it's the pump (that will get you out of a jam).

Re: what happend?

None of these suggestions explains why the tires "locked" up. We all know the brakes didnt lock up on their own.

We need to figure out what did happen.

Re: what happend?

Did the brakes just lock up for a second and are now free or are they still stuck?

Re: what happend?

The car stalled while in drive, hence the locking of the wheels.

Ever try and push a car in gear? It's kinda hard to do.

Same thing applies to both an automatic and a standard.

Re: what happend?

agreed...it should roll in drive even if it stalls...trust me, i know a LOT lol

but when a car stalls while you're lightly applying the brakes, and you're moving kinda slowly, it sometimes feels like the brakes lock.
