I am not sure if i need to post this here or not but owell. My question is do i need to put anything on the cork gaset for them to seal? I dont think i do just want to make sure if i do or not/ They are for the rear cam seal, oil pan, and valve covers. Thanks for any help. And also for the timing chain cover and the water pump i use the paper gaset and rv sealing right?

Re: Rebuild question
Gaskets generally work best on their own. I don't put silicone sealant on anything anymore, unless it's for sealing joints between gaskets or sealing stuff that doesn't have a premade gasket.

Re: Rebuild question
I put gasket sealer on pretty much everything. Won't hurt, but you'll wish you put it on if you didn't. Better safe than sorry.

Re: Rebuild question
The paper gaskets tend not to last as long without the silicone crap on 'em, but they seal better without it in my oppinion. Silicone sealant won't hurt anything as long as it's kept away from induction/exhaust gaskets. Silicone kills O2 sensors, even the supposed 'sensor-safe' silicone can be problematic.

Re: Rebuild question
my
, you shouldnt need anything 'extra' on any gaskets, spend time making sure all surfaces are dry clean and flat - no nicks- thats the only time youd need somin.
oh yeah exception to rule may be LIM front/rear ;-)
