Just ask your question. We've got members very knowledgeable of turboing these motors. By the time you track him down elsewhere, your question could have already been answered.

Re: ok were is daves12secV6

ok, there's a company that specializes in rear mounted turbos, might want to look up their reviews/info. s/c are custom also (waits for them "super peeps" to chime in)

Re: ok were is daves12secV6

Dave probably nuked his engine. LOL

You can run the return line to the oil pan or if it's above the valvecovers you could route it there. Just mount it above the oil line- gravity's the only thing bringing it back to the pan.

Wow, you sure change your mind pretty fast lol. Why would you even contemplate a rear mount turbo charger anyway? I've driven in a friend's STS Corvette, and despite contrary belief, they lag, but you don't notice it because of the engine's pre-existant low end torque. Don't get me wrong though, the STS kit made one heck of a difference when they did spool, lemme tell ya....

Don't know what to tell you about Dave though. I rarely even talk about the guy, it's my cousin who has it in for him. To be honest, I feel that Dave should come back onto this website. Not only for explaining his actions with some of us, but to continue inspiring the 2.8/3.1 community. I mean, FirstFirebird, Daves12secv6, a few others, as well as myself, are far from teenagers. If you ask me, it's been going on long enough now. Just let bygones be bygones, wouldn't everyone agree....?

Re: ok were is daves12secV6

hmmmmm

anyways u would run the feed the same way u would for a front mount turbo, the hard part of the rear mount is is getting the oil back u need a pump to pump the oil back up to the motor.the good thing is u can return the oil back to the motor threw the valve cover

and it is gonna lag a .63 ex housing lagged on a front mount setup so on a rear mount i wouldnt expect boost till 4,500 rpms,u could overcome this using a .48 housing but its gonna choke the motor up top

if ur dead set on doing a rear mount i would use 2.25 inch ex all the way back, and run 2 inch charge pipes from the turbo to the tb. this smaller ex pipes would keep velocity up and help spool the turbo, the smaller charge pipes will do the same.

if ur doing all the fab work why not just do an under k member style, or even ditch the ac compressor and swap/flip the ex manifolds. and do a fm setup.the hard part with that is u need to tig weld the manifolds with nirod

Can't flip the manifolds, the pass side manifold will hit the k-memeber/motor mount when used on the driver's side.

Easiest is to modify the y-pipe and go under the k like Dave and I did - many people have had good success with under-k's - in 4th gen fbods as well.

Re: ok were is daves12secV6

its been spo long since i tried it i thought it was the driver side manifold being used on the passenger side that gave the trouble.if i remeber right it ran into the back of the alt. and the pass side fliped onto the driver side almost ran into the ac compressor.

then again if u got some cash prolyl around 200$'s u can build urself a set of headers out of steel weld els.i did mine in stainless theres about 600 just in materials on mine if not more
driverside

and passenger side

Can't flip them over, only move them from one side to the other. Tried it

Re: ok were is daves12secV6

though beware if u make something liek the above u will have to ditch the smog pump. im not to sure on the ac compressor mine got ditched just for the sake of losing wieght but it looks like it will fit back in
