cold air intakes

I was wondering if they even make cold air intakes or anything for a 91 firebird with a 3.1. Could anyone tell me where to find parts for my car?

Re: cold air intakes

Welcome to the site. I would advise you to use the search button before you post...the search function is not the best, but it can give you a start.

Now to answer your question...the best (and probably only) "cold air intake" is from earlier Camaros....

^ You have a Firebird though, you might have to fabricate your own, which is very easy to do....

Re: cold air intakes

The Camaro ones will NOT fit. The lower hoodlines of the Firebirds prevents it. That's why only Camaros (TPI & V6) have them. No Firebird (TPI or V6) ever got them.

Something like this, depending on which route you want to go with the tubing material....

Re: cold air intakes

^ Not one that was intentionally made for our cars, but you can fabricate one by going to Home Depot though. You just need the filter cone, a bracket, and some clamps, additionally....

Umm, I'm well aware of the difference. Relax by the way bro, I'm giving him some ideas that he can work with. He could easily route that out underneath the front of the car if he so chooses....

Re: cold air intakes

you could route it the same way but instead of just leaving the cone there open a whole under the cone and extend the pipping to go into the fender which would inturn be a true cai intake.i dont think that pipping flows verywell though i would suggest pipping with out the little crinkles

If you hated it so much, you woulda just PM'd me. Instead, you felt the need to post publicly & with foul language. How OLD are you? 13?

I'm encouraging a newbie to SEARCH & be self sufficient & reduce server load, memory storage & traffic on TGO. It's amazing how often I see people ask questions that have been asked & answered 1000 times over.

Re: cold air intakes

I have a vibrant 3" cold air intake, its a 90degree andgle tube and a 45 degree angle tube and it works perfect. First time I put it on my car my car was running 10degrees cooler on highway speeds. When my car gets back from the body shop hopefully this week i will take a pic of my intake. costed me $100 for two tubes, and an air filter

A picture would be helpful. I was wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions on an exhaust for it. should i go with a complete system or just a glass pack or different muffler?

I bought one of the ebay ones, tossed a K&N on it, and built a metal shield to shield it from the engine bay temps. Works pretty nicely.

Re: cold air intakes

Buy some PVC pipes/90* elbows from a local hardware store...measure....cut...and put a filter on it. The filter will go where your stock one goes, but it should be better flowing.

These questions are asked so many times. A quick, easy search will give you more than enough pics/answers.
