2.8 to 3.4 but what about 3.8?

hey whats up guys, im really not sure if this has been covered or not, searched a little but couldnt really find any info that i was searching for, but to the point, i have a 92 rs with a 3.1 and t-5 tranny, i did some research and found if i got a 3.4 block that i could swap over my intake fi system over, taking away alot of headache when it comes to wiring up a new harness to a new ecu, just requiring some fine tuning with a bigger engine im figuring, but what if i go bigger? like a 3.8 or something out of a 4th gen or s-10, would my intake still bolt up? and i have already read that the motor mounts would need to be switched though of course. and i cant forget about the t-5 14 spline tranny thats bolted up right now, any ideas if that would be a direct fit to the 3.8?

The S-10 was never equipped with a 3.8/3800.

No, NONE of the parts are interchangable from a 60 degree V6 and a 3.8/3800.

The 3.8/3800 swap seems to be rather involved, just due to how much needs to change and needs to be customized to fit and work in a 3rd gen.

ok thanks, so the easiest swap would just use a 3.4 block then from what i read? is there any stroker kits for a 3.4? from the searching ive done i couldnt find anything. maybe someone knows of one?

Re: 2.8 to 3.4 but what about 3.8?

Nope. The 3.4L is already a bored and stroked 2.8L. With the RWD engine, there isn't enough room to go any bigger without destroying block integrity.

BTW, you didn't look real hard for information since I have posted a sticky at the top of the page that answers your EXACT question. Please do a complete search next time. This question gets asked almost once a week, hence the sticky...

yeah sorry, im still kinda getting used to the forums, this is the first forums ive actually ever been involved in, engine shops around where i live only mess around with small black and big block stuff and not v6 engines. but back to the point, so really i could even take my 3.1 and bore it out to the 3.4 spec then without having to really buy another engine then? then go from there with a hyrbid set up.

Again, doing some basic searches using the search function built into this forum would answer your question. The search function can be acessed by clicking on the word "SEARCH" located near the top of every page on this forum. It is to the right side of the top menu.

To quickly answer your question, No, you can not bore a 3.1 to 3.4 spec safely.
